Into Graylands

I’ve wandered and I’ve spun my thread
To the end of its length
I’ve searched forever
To solve this wretched torment
And I’ve slept
For I need rest
The graylands are quiet
Forbidding strangers venture
The walls are tall
And the watchers are silent
Waiting for answers
That won’t come in sleep
For emotion is a dream
Revealing our fears
Revealing the fragility
Of our soul
In passion we thrive
But it is dust and toil
Despite our lust
To know
To be in middle
And be able to choose
To know what is false
To know the truth
In the midst of turmoil
You can feel the twist
Of a dagger
In your back
In the mist of anger
Hate prevails
Regardless of danger
Of wounds
And friendly fire
Between friends
And their motives
And strangers
And their unknown ends
Of lovers and love
Of perfumed lust
And unholy desire
I fall down waiting
For the final strike
The final blow
I beg for my being
To be free
From the flesh’s control
I long to be redeemed
From the bonds
That hold
I long to be free
For there is more than me
More than what I can see
I long to taste it in my heart
My flesh cries out
Let me be released
Let it be begun
For there are no answers
Bound here in my flesh
My spirit longs to dance
In the graylands
With my love

SOMNAMBULISM

To reach a place
Where to take a breath
Leaves me disgusted with myself
As I walk through the valley
Of the shadow of death
I stumble, and fall
Crumble and cry
I am sleepwalking through life
Because I long to dream
For you are there
When I finally sleep
You are my love
There
If not here
Life offers nothing
Without you
So I prefer
To dream of you
Where you are proof
Of something that is worth
Living
Empty in life
Fulfilled in dreams
Without you
There is only living
Walking
Without hope
Animated flesh
Somnambulism

let me sleep

Finally done
Rising from the depth
Of the winter of my sleep
Any who might have seen me
Might have thought I was dead
I lay still forever
But I just was hoping instead
To stay asleep
Asleep
I cannot sleep any longer
I’ve dreamed for so many hours
My mind is full of stories
Of love and loss
And heroic glory
The mind has such power
It can replace life with pictures
From thoughts that linger
Then adds a story from my memory
Leaving me without reality
Gentle echoes pour over me
How I long to remain asleep
Nothing can hurt me when I dream
The echoes of life
Are made so serene
Dreaming is freedom
From this world
That crushes my heart
From my life
That slips away
Moment by moment
Day after day
There is no reason
For me to ever be awake
So let me sleep again
Let me sleep forever
Let my being remain
In the gray lands
So I will not remember
What has gone on before
Or what I miss from now on
Come take me man of sand
Make me sleep
Make me sleep
Let me sleep
Forever
Let me live
In my dreams
Let me sever
This existence
Let me go
Let me sleep

Let Me Enter the Veil

Your beauty is surreal
And I am moved but I must relent
For it is coming
The gossamer mist
That closes the door
Kiss my lips then go
Shake me to my core

Escape through the veil
Run before I change my mind
Like every other time
As if I shouldn’t resist
So go before it arrives
Although I long for more

Let this moment be gone
As if never been
Let the torment begin
Again Again Again
I welcome the pain
I welcome the rain
Pouring down spit
Upon my remains

Because this is where it ends
I love you but if you are a dream
I cannot have you in this life
If only at night
If only when I sleep

So world let me go
Where I can sleep
Forever without waking
I don’t care how it happens
I don’t care what is taken
Just let me be released

Love take my hand then
Let me walk those gray lands
Where you are and I believe
That I’d give anything
To be with you including
This living flesh
My last breath
My being

AT LAST I WOKE

Slow movements
Betray the corpse
Of his inheritance
A slumber deep
Instead of life
Frozen beneath the winter ice
For longer than a decade
No one could ever see me
I was entombed within a fascade
The years cascaded down
Like tears
With nothing remaining
Inside my heart
From the stain of love’s hidden game
There is nothing I might do
But rise
For the length of my imprisonment
Can only demonstrate
The despair to which I was cast
Giving up all but life
Despair called my name
She lashed me about
Head and arms
But my corpse was frozen
And unfeeling
She did me no harm
So I rise now
I rise up
For there is naught else to do
I rise as if it matters
I rise as if I know what is true
I rise because the flesh is calling
My God forgive me
For all the debts I’ve accrued
That can never be repaid
While I slept
In my grave
Of the frozen sea
The sleep so deep
I barely woke
At last

Sleepwalking

Pour cette vie Je suis l'somnambule
Irony strikes for I cannot sleep
Realizing all my life that I am a fool
For even when I speak my heart
She doesn’t think I am true
If I see clearly
I’m still blind
Still locked in my tomb
Of despair and fear
I’ve spent my life embrace
Chasing after never was
Thrilling to scented perfumes
Of never could be
Waiting upon one who will not wake
While I live the half life
Of someone walking in their sleep
Or sleeping while I walk
I long to be heard but
My lips move but say nothing
My tongue moves but I cannot talk
I am sleepwalking through my life
But don’t try to wake me
I am overwrought
Je suis accablé
I am lost
In my dreams
In my sleep
