Defend the Present, To Save a Future

It wasn't they who started the fire, it was the enemy.  The Axis powers burned civilization upon a pyre, not the Allies.  If a good people who hate war are forced to finally fight, they will often fight with dead set anger.  It is not the cause of vengeance that they serve, no, it is righteous ire.

They fight for the truth.  They will fight to the end.  with fires raging, and the innocent dying. For to turn away from duty the world they love will pass, pass forever from view.  One after another, like dominoes they fall, but united, they can survive, they will be renewed.

A Messenger

Ask yourself
If you saw spirits, or angels
Would you listen to what they said
Would you be what they said you were
Or would you be normal until you were dead
And if you were asked to lead
A country with almost no hope left
With less than no expectations
If you were a country girl
Not a knight
Would you lead the charge
In a world of violence
Between different nations
Would you act
Rather than demer
Would you pray and do
Or would you prefer
To live a life of normality
And let your country fall
And when you were accused
Said that your visions were false
Would you surrender and confess
Or would you refuse to relent
Knowing your fate
Would lead to a burning death

sweat

Together in embrace
The bodies are moist with sweat
Together they connect
Hands travel along the edge
Hips and hands meet
Senses and more become erect
The heart is unprepared for the onset
Of the results of when lips meet
Her soul tattooed with his words
His heart carved deep with the symbol
Portals of eternity opened now
Both were alone, now merged
Awareness of the moment leaves both humbled
Shocked and awed they make a vow
To never end this epic moment
In each heart and each soul

“Life is just one small piece of light between two eternal darknesses.”― Vladimir Nabokov

Because

Above the rest of the city
High above the canopy
I watch every night
Because the predators hunt
It is my destiny
The victims call out in agony
It is my quest, my divine right
I hold in my hand the innocent's trust

For in midnight my sword is quick
My way is known only by me
For I am the watchman
The earliest morning hours
The fog and clarity is thick
My violence does not redeem
I am the final option
And the outlook is dour

Should I fail, should even one die
The city's blood will be upon my hands
Innocent lives are not sport for game
The wild tribes must be fought
I am willing to be crime's suicide
This is my sovereign land
The evil of man must be tamed
I fight for honor, to harvest the criminal lot

My name is justice
My name is guardian
My name is unknown
Except to those who riot
To them my name is final
The only answer to their venom

Legendary, Feared and Revered

Legendary, feared, and revered
It stood, a great land
Apart from all else
Her walls protected her
From invasion
From rebellion
Her people were fierce
Resistant and defensive
Unafraid of the lands nearby
None dare attack
With the tallest walls
The highest of towers
The most firm gates
The empire possessed enormous power
And the ancient family ruled
Without interruption
The empire's walls were impenetrable
Her slaves worked without end
While armies of her warriors marched
To conquer, to challenge, to keep the empire
Highest atop the hill
For treasure, for gold and furs
For the emperor's pleasure
To keep the neighboring people in terror
The riches of empire must grow
Kept deep in the empire's vault
But treasures are more than metals
Farmers brought to market crops
And her soldiers
Once lost, never return
But the empire is whole
Powerful, a legend to the people
While the rest of the world
Suffered in a desert
Fertile in fear
Rich with sand
Only the gods in high Valhalla
The Aesir could hope for more
The lands divided
One fertile, powerful, haughty
High above the plains
Green with fecund growth
And upon the horizon
Her neighbors, small, disorganized
Distracted by hunger
And wars of desperation
Not now, but soon
They'd stop fighting each other
Over scraps
And aim towards the empire
And bring its doom

Victory or Defeat

Victory or defeat
We have a journey to complete
Through dark and dangerous lands
Our fate is in our hands
We walk, but not alone
We have not abandoned our home
Our commander demands our fidelity
Faith to the cause, our destiny
The enemy is powerful and fierce
But his way is dark and perverse
We have only one choice
We listen and obey our king's voice
Our armor is unbroken
Our hearts devoted
We are alive and committed
Our lord offers being forgiven
And our spirit is too weak
To deny our need
Our hearts long for his kingdom
To live joyfully in his dominion

we are young

We imagine ourselves so wise
Staring into the future
With earnest dreams and hope
But we haven't escaped the past
We barely have risen from the mud
From being the butcher
Of everything we meet
We imagine ourselves bright
So very certain
That we are the greatest beast
Of the cosmic jungle
But the ruins of our world
Ancient and standing
Show the foolish hubris
Of all of our thoughts
And dreams
And beliefs
We are the apex predator
Bored of the home world slaughter
And desire other beings
To make meat
We are so young
Our wisdom is far lacking
We are the dead
For our limits
Will strand us
Upon this world

The Suicide of Empire

Throughout time, when an empire dies
It goes through death throes
That are known to be the same as others
Most of the time the cause is suicide
With a malaise that flows
And an apathy that smothers

Sex is made to be the highest achievement
But our addictive fucking is nothing
Our simplest instincts and most base desire
Food and treasure becomes a demon
Vanity and violence unblushing
And the self hate and selfishness become fire

In a world where obesity and starvation compete
When the rich could eat the poor and be commended
Where the wars of finances and hate are entered
The battles are lost not from material defeat
No, the truth is, once the events are ended
The cause is known and the empires have surrendered

There is no justice
In the maintenance of empire
There is only damnation and decay
All of us should try to know this
Humans are wild, not for servitude wired
And civilization is a false we are all betrayed

By our desire to control our instincts
While in fact, becoming addicted
To bread and circus
And there is no deeper resistance
We love the sickness
We become the abortus

“Step by step they were led to things which dispose to vice, the lounge, the bath, the elegant banquet. All this in their ignorance they called civilisation, when it was but a part of their servitude.”  Tacitus

Snow covered stones and grass

The past is a construct
Lost to time if forgot
Ravens sit upon the stones
Of the treasured dead
Forgetting what was wrought
Only by human effort
Hopes and dreams
And love and truth
The only proof
That life is worth anything
And perhaps even
Something good
Even in the bleak winter
The wind and snow
Cover every last evidence
Humans were here

More

I heard you say that you wanted more
So do I, everyone does
So you clarified and said you want more love
And I said me too, who wants less
The game of love features blood and gore
Fought with emotions instead of guns
A battle between hawks and doves
With no end date, only a rancid mess
Of hurt hearts alone
Despite being together
What is forever
I usually want nothing
But to sleep and never wake
You have all the more you want
I'd rather sleep
Even if in death
Through hallways I walk
Silently
And haunt

War drums

I heard the drums beating
Heard the hearts beat for war
I wear the wounds of past conflicts
Upon my arms
The politicians bleating
The land of 10,000 scars
Holding aloft a golden crucifix
To keep us from harm
But there will be no reasoning
There is none to have
When the season of war begins again
We live in the unforgiven lands
The drums beat calling
The dreamers of glory elated
Every great wall is falling
Morality lays castrated
Who are we to offer
The blood of our youth
Who will suffer
Who are we to sacrifice
A generation without mothers
We are the foolish
We are the long forgotten tribe
Who kills its youngest generations
For the sake of hatred and lies

Power

Wearing the wings of death
And the cloak of flesh
She can travel in different forms
And has power to wield
With damnation to share
Her words are fierce
Even bold
And her appearance has been foretold
From galaxy to galaxy
She travels
From heart to heart
She harvests
The living to become the dead

Dust of death

I am like the angel of death Azrael
Flowing in a black cloak
Eyes staring into the haze
No way of going forward
I won't reach my destination
My home is still far away
I remember my first
And now this is my last
So very thirsty
The clouds so dry
Puffs of smoke they could have been
Not a drop of rain to be found
The dust rose from the ground
Behind me
Where my feet had passed

Nothingness

She had her "usual" from the menu
I always tried something new
She talked endlessly about her current favorite thing
I tried to explain how something came from nothing
We were never the same
We didn't share a name
How I miss her different ways
I am lost in malaise
There is nothing worse
Than a curse
Of nothingness together

How Dare I?

I had a vision
I saw it clearly
You stood by waiting
I was the spectacle
You found entertainment in
My soul imprisoned
Writhing in the deepest ecstasy
Of the coldest pain
How dare I be hurt
I have only myself to blame
I refused to listen
As everyone watched
In silence
Celebrating
My darling affliction
I preferred to dream
I prefer the quiet
Of the crowd
Rather than live a fiction
Break me
Make me bend
But please tell me now
Why I should stay
It isn't like I am addicted
To the epic humiliation

Glorious is the image

Her name is Gaia
She is the goddess
Her image proclaims
Wonder and imaginings
Set upon a surface
Ecstatic and untamed
Nature is the hand
And existence the canvas
Abstraction upon purpose
Casting logic to the winds
Belief is the undiscovered country
And hope is the secret soul name
With glowing stars as paint
We can perceive the greater scene
Savoring the knowledge and wisdom
And the fire and the taste
Existence is not our creation
But we create
To celebrate
Creation is our parent
We are not tame
We are the child
Our nature is free
And our spirit is wild

Great Apollo

His music weaves beauty
His will to create generous
And is exquisitely glorious
The entire universe his throne room
He loved his children and is not ireful
Even when they are restless
He is able to paint the earth as his canvas
Painting with delicate grace
Apollo plays his harp
Duly worshiped by the least powerful
He deigns to act for his children
Who exist across the planet
And he calls upon them
To simply increase his name
And make the discovered world his domain

"How charming is divine philosophy! Not harsh and crabbed, as dull fools suppose, But musical as is Apollo's lute, And a perpetual feast of nectar'd sweets Where no crude surfeit reigns"

John Milton

Demokrates

To know the truth
Is not a comfort
When the facts are a path
To enter a maze
There is no proof
Days are numbered
While trying to escape
The wrath
There is no formula
No recipe for survival
Every entry into the labyrinth
Ends in death
To know the truth
Does not release one
For the chains of reality
Are never broken
And our flesh is temporary
Free your the spirit
Or suffer and permanently die

Punishment of Lust

They hover above the snow field
In transition from earth to the mists
From the life of flesh to that of spirit
They've been punished by the fates
For being yet unhealed
For sharing their gifts
For experiencing shame
They dared to be alive
Unchained and forgiven

long gone

The entire of my existence has been spent
Upon a search for truth and the message sent
I refused to accept that I was flawed
Despite my being considered an outlaw
I preferred to think that I was a rebel
And even if condemned to hell
I'd have waited for you
And your touch
Never thought your affection to be too much
And I refused to conform
Fulfill the norm
I refused to be thought like others
And while that might be wrong
By the time you agree to be with me
I'll be long gone

First the Hammer, Now with nothing

First crushed by the Hammer
In the fields of Poitiers
Resurgent and consuming
Then set against the Balkans
And cast from the gates of Vienna
But the flood waters always rise
And the flood never ends
The fields of battle are never empty
Simply waiting
For the next letting of blood
No one should forget the debt
Nor pretend
That is wasn't needed
To those who rose in the past
Their remnant spirits should not avert their gaze
From our failings
There is still time
To dam the "waters"
There needs to be a way to block the flood
Before nothing remains

Lithe

She was lithe
And moved softly
Grace expressed
In the form of a dancer
Her form was miraculous
Healed me
Simply by being
In her presence

End of the present

Whatever the number of our days
Or progression of the minutes
The seconds are countless
And time betrays
Life decays
There is nothing in this place
But waiting
And working to bring the moment
When the relentless floods promise
To burst through the dams
We cannot stop the inevitable
But we can measure a stake
In the time we are here
To be unmoved by the things of the moment
Because we await the forever
And will never stop
Even if the birth pains are torment
We do not regret
We do not pretend
We seek mercy
We seek grace
And desire only to repent
Of those things that make us die
Inside and outside
The flesh is the great betrayer
Now is the day
When our destiny is revealed
And we shine with his light
Forever after
And we shall fly
And conquer the sky
In his hands

“Time is a created thing. To say 'I don't have time,' is like saying, 'I don't want to.”
Lao Tzu

cemetery cross broken

We often see
Spirit and flesh
As betrothed
But tipped over crosses
In a cemetery grown over
With roots and dead trees
Each screams
Revealing life
Where is only death
No one believes in ghosts
Or believes
That life ends
Forever ends
Because they don't know

Answer the Call

They all served in their own way
Unified the effort and able to say
We fought as one, refused to retreat
Refused any shame and disaster
We're a machine once united for war
We love peace but cannot turn away
From our brothers and sisters
Who had great need
Fighting the Axis threatening doom
Together as one we sent them to Hell
The remnants of the Axis Empire
Now consigned to the tomb

consumed me whole

I confess that I regret
But can I ever forget
The choices I made
Emptied my soul
While
A beast who awaits
Promises
To consume me whole

Wednesday, July 4, 2018

If I were to live, I had to fight or die

My body was washed upon the shore
Exhausted, and mutilated from the ordeal
Cast out into the expanse, I stopped thinking
And had to just react
If I were to survive
And if I were to live
I was made to fight
Or die

Tuesday, July 3, 2018

No, just no

You take my hand
Place it on your lips
You guide my eyes
With your disguise
Hands upon your hips
Telling me
How much I mean
To you but
I don't
Mean
Anything
To anyone
I don't
Know
Anything
To share
With you
Or anyone
My collapse
Is begun
You are the one
But I am not the one
You need
I will be gone
Long gone
Far too wrong
To do anything
So look to the horizon
I'll be somewhere
Far away
You see loving you
Showed me
Beyond any doubt
I've walked into
Final oblivion

You aren't Christ, I'm not Judas

How am I to interpret this latest speech
Am I the Christ needing crucifixion
Or are you suggesting that
My loyalty is such
That you believe I am Judas
And wait now for my kiss
To betray you to the Romans
And the complicit mob
Well the truth is that my greatest reach
Could not be near the conviction
Needed to be the one
To follow my conscience
And surrender you
I'd require a great deal of opium
To change my character
Frankly you aren't Christ
You aren't a martyr
You only love having that constant podium
Upon which to teach
Nothing I say is worthy
So why do I bother
I surrender to the mob
And they turn away
Throw me silver pieces
As you are slain
For the mob and Romans could recognize
The vile odium
Of your conceit

Fermi

I walked to the far edge of the sun
Found that there was nothing new
I quickly moved to scan the next galaxy
And never realized my journey
This quest could never be called done
Despite my heart and dreams being true
I watched as my home planet earth reached apogee
I do embody the principle named for Fermi
A paradox
My interest and effort should guarantee a result
But the solar system is lifeless but for earth
And the stars have proven greedy
With no desire to allow
Life
Within their sight
