Dawn

She dances agilely
Without a sound
Tempted into the dawn
She stretches toward the sun
As a creature of the night
Twilight is her canopy
And when she has fun
But she warms by the rays
And nothing from the world
Can take her joy
Nothing
She is familiar with audactiy
For there is nothing else
For one who lives
For the moment
She never turns back
To the world waking
For they have no idea
What is joy or shame
But societal constructs
And failed attempts
At conforming
Everyone who lives
In the sun

Bleeding, Dying, Broken

Living in a V cut into the ground
With bullets sweeping over the top
Artillery shells destroying lives
Nights without sleep from the sound
Blood spilled without stop
Fighting with guns and knives

The battlefield is our graveyard
Remnant pieces collected and buried
With crosses marking our sleep
Shells flying bombard
Our trenches become our cemetery
And the sorrow runs deep

We are the soldiers
Who died for our cause
We sleep now, undisturbed
The fires lit by war smolder
Trapped in our vicious jaws
Generations later given gifts unearned

How dare you love me

I was asleep to life
Barely alive in my flesh
I was bleeding inside
Sorrow smothered
When the storm came
Stealing every breath
I considered suicide
But why bother
I was living death
She held out her hand
Asked why I was alone
I should have run
But I was lost
A deer in headlights
And the end had begun
I was burned
Not seeing the flame
Drawn to the light
I was lost
How dare you love me
When I hate myself
How dare you care
When I live in Hell

Sleeps the King

The king sleeps
To awake when needed
His legends keep
In hearts bleeding
The one god
Gives back life
To the bearer of fire
When the time is rife
With sorrow
Greatest fear
And no hope
Only strife
The king who sleeps
Is our Arthur
Bearer of the Pendragon's blood
Encased in armour
We wait for his return
Our sorrows inside burn
He will be back
When our sorrows flood
And he is called
From Heaven's hold
Our love will adorn
His kingship
We are his servants
And refused to mourn
Because he'd come back
When the need
Was enough
For the one God
To be moved
To share him
With his people
Again

Autumn's Freeze

In this cold Autumn
I've been haunted
Grieved your loss
I have cried
You left this world
And I died inside
I mourned the cost
Of your life
But cost was something
You never counted
But it added up
In the end
There was a reckoning
You laid beneath the ground
The world was silent for you
Not a single sound
And now I want that too
Never want to wake up again
Never want to be without you
This is a nightmare, not a dream
I want to close my eyes
I want to fall asleep
Never wake up
Never wake up
Unliving is dying
And I can't go on
Without you in my life
Any longer

The Dark Lord Screams

No one dreams of dying
With a hope to travel
To the worst place
Of all
The floor of the destination
Entered by a long lonely hall
With steps ever going down
One arrives upon the banks
Of the river of flame
And then into the domain
Ruled by the King of Lying
Of Tartarus and the Styx
All the demons and devils
Serve in the thrall
Of the Father of Darkness
Lucifer
The bright morning star
He screams in anger
Pain is his curse
His hold over the earth
Fails to dominate
While the world
Debates his existence
Not imagining
He was real
And was the master
Of the dark forces
Our lives unraveling
Unseen forces hold
So very tight
Nearly strangling
Our lives
Every day
Every night

a silent kill

he saw it
rising from the wild grass
covered in snow
it was there
perfectly still
the deer's breath visible as frost
in the morning air
the archer breathed in
held his breath
pulled back the string of the bow
aimed with superb precision
and released his shaft
the shot prey
struck through the heart
     the bleeding red deer
  kept running
losing more and more blood
  from his maw
leaving tracks of crimson
in the snow behind
the archer lets his breath out
and rises
walking over to the dead red deer
he couldn't know
that the wound itself caused no pain
   the arrowhead being profoundly sharp
pierced his body with perfect deadly aim
and as darkness prevails
the hart quivers a final time
as the silent forest weeps
with one of its children
no longer
within her confines

Yearn

I have a spine
And self esteem
I am confident
And secure
But for you
Yes I will
Any task
You'll see
If anyone else asked
--That --
The answer would be
A question
"Really?"
"Me?"
Followed by a smirk
And an air of disgust
But when I see your eyes
I am compelled to be
The one who says
Yes, please
Let it be me
Only for you
Because I
Can never say no
Because I
Cannot imagine
Not being with
The one who makes
My heart yearn
The one who makes
My soul burn
In love
Not to mention lust
I gave you my heart
In you I trust

ignore us

please ignore the poor
they just want more
silence the hurting
move forward, no reverting
we are the lost
the bearers of the cost
No more dreams
No more sleep
all of our  fears
realized
in the tears
of others

A Princess Who Dreamed

She was an inferno
Pure emotion
Red fire
Hair of crimson
Her porcelain skin
Velvet soft
Somewhat thin
Looking fragile
Until her mouth
Let you see
She was a rascal
Her spirit
Burning
A princess
Of great beauty
Fire of spirit
A mind unique
And bright
Had slept
For decades
She lay there
In deep repose
In her dreams
She was dreaming life
Alive with her mind
She was more than beautiful
She was beyond moving
And she had lived
In the Dreamlands
Far far away
Where the land awakens
While we sleep
A place of passions
Filling our world
With wild beauty
Glorious
No night
Only golden light
Of an eternal sun

Conjuring Hell

They did not live to tell
Three men without fear
Without wisdom
Without foresight
Read a spell
From a book
One had found
Imagined a vision
Of power
In the pit would dwell
A daemonic being
Drawn from the hells
With the precise words
Spoken darkly
Aimed to conjure
A demon
Willing to do their bidding
Sound the bells
And begin the prayers
To save the others
For the three men
Were taken
After refusing to quell
Their invocations
And idle words
That let
The demons
Free

Stranger

Mankind is done
He shouted
Fear is righteous
You must run
A figure had appeared
The village was abuzz
An old man with eyes
That spoke of oblivion
He was one
Who was more than he seemed
He spoke about the fires
Of the apocalypse had begun
He spoke about death
About the end
Of Judgment to come
That the gods had started
The final acts upon earth
And he was speaking to save us
From ourselves
And in a form
Of universal injustice
The old man was taken
Hung upon a tree
With spikes into each wrist
Come apocalypse
His corpse
Spoke to our guilt

“A fire broke out backstage in a theatre. The clown came out to warn the public; they thought it was a joke and applauded. He repeated it; the acclaim was even greater. I think that's just how the world will come to an end: to general applause from wits who believe it's a joke.”  Søren Kierkegaard

Far Away in the Mountains

Far away
There are artifacts
Of a strange temple
Unseen for millennia
There in the mountains
Of distant Honduras
Though small by world comparison
There are remnants of a culture
Devoted to the worship
Of a God, the Monkey God
Beneath the ruins
Are the altars and sanctuary
Untouched by human hands
For centuries
Unleashed
The God
When awakened
Would strike
Mad with hunger
Perverse with lust
The believers left
The earth with hope
To join their god
In their paradise
But before they could
He had eaten them here
And if there is a paradise
Of their device
He'd eat them there
He is ever hungry
Ever horny
And ever angry
Towards all

Judgment

A smell of fire and sulfur
Foul death and suffering
Most pungent
Standing before the pit
Anubis was prepared
To judge the one placed before him
A man who in life
Had behaved quite badly
His physical life was ended
Now his soul was questioned
His heart to gold was compared
Weighed upon scales
Anubis announced, Justice was rent
The soul was then
Cast into the fire
His body was made of ash
With nothing left for him
His existence
And suffering
Ended at last

The Way was Lost

The seer took the mother
Of the crown prince
To his brazier
And altar
They had been lovers
Once and never since
The incense was lit
And the queen mother
Was overwhelmed
By the fumes
Of the unaltered incense
That had come from the most rare
Spices and scents
Found on the darkest night
Under sacred flowers
Planted to remember
The massacres and violence
That had brought the kingdom
To its knees
And in her state
She discovered
The day most fearsome
Approaching
Quickly
That would depose the monarchy
And leave the people
In disgrace
With no leadership
And only anarchy

Despite warnings

The tensions had grown
Over the century
Despite the warnings
No one knew what was happening
And no one believed the truth
Though the world kept spinning
We refused to accept wisdom known
A new, terrible age was dawning
Soon humanity would seek
To abandon the planet
For there would be no survival
When nuclear winter strikes
After the enemies exchange blows
With weapons of no reprieve
The world's population dies
As the bombs never stop
Nuclear ash joins the snow
Those few not burned
By the nuclear fire
Starve to death
With ungrowing plants
Fallow fields and dying crops

Abominations

The shattering silence
Where the alien god laid
Upon his massive dais
Beyond the depths
Of the horizon
This is not a tomb
For he is unable to die
He sleeps instead
There in his den
Where women and men
Are strapped to tables
They are then mated
With the foul deep ones
And with other children
Of the gods of the stars
Birthing abominations
For the pleasure
And entertainment
To satisfy the alien god's reign
The humans who carried
The eggs, embryos and seed
Were slaughtered afterward
Rivers of blood
Swept away bodies of the slain
The sorrow of this
Never ended
The hybrids born
Earned the scorn
Leaving scars
From the hate
From the masters of war
Who fought to save
The human race
By separating
The decayed line
Of human subjects
And the deep ones
By smell alone
The hybrids are known
But their visage is one
To make men fear

Without Flaw

The symphony
That is nature
Performs a ministry
A holy savior
For some
And it screams
For our attention
Because that forest
Is perfect
But it is not
It is perfectly flawed
And created
By one
With no flaw

Pound Cake

For days I broke rocks
With my hammer
For the sins
I have done
Then for weeks I broke cocks
Roosters for their sins
With a hammer
For fun
Then I pounded a cake
With my fist
Because I had no teeth
I used my gums

Stolen

Into the mists they walk
Inspirational men
Stolen from the generations
For their ideals
One wrong word
And the evil react
One gun is all that is needed
To create a world surreal
Where the good are slaughtered
The evil are triumphant
And the nation
Stands in disbelief
Wondering what happened

Zeno = Zero

According to explanation
When Achilles faces the tortoise
In a long, strenuous race
Achilles giving the tortoise a head start
Would cause Achilles frustration
But this is false
Clearly so
As I learned as a youth
Racing around a track
With one slow
And another fast
The slow is passed
So quickly
As to be lapped
In quantum time

Gold, Glory, God, and Envy

We believe that we can be perfect
If only--
we could be powerful
could be successful
be wealthy
Or beautiful
And it is a fool's game
We are born
Each of us different
With a different gifts
Talents and skill sets
Interests
And a finite amount of time
We ought better to consider
The best use of our existence
To find our conscience
Our passions
Self acceptance
And find our wealth
In the good that we do
In the people we love
And an appreciation of how life
Eventually steals our health
And the sands of the hourglass
Pass without stop

Above we watch

The sun hides in the sky
Behind complete cloud cover
Alert for action
High above the Metropolis
Our flight of autogyros hover
Searching for sight of the enemy
When the Nazi airships approach
We will meet them before they strike
They will discover
Our defensive resolve

In the faeries forest

The faerie sisters
Awaken in early spring
From their dreams
Their deep winter sleep
When the world begins to warm
In late March
They are new
As with birth
They are quietly moving
In the rays of the morning sun
The dead leaves will fall away
Replaced by green buds
And they will dance
Until spring is born
And the celebrate the earth
Happily
Joyfully
And the snow and ice
Will pass unmourned
For they will return
In another turn
Of the seasons

Ever

Ever
Was not to be
So beautiful
So very lovely
I would never see
Your spirit
Your being
In sweet dreams
