Despite warnings

The tensions had grown
Over the century
Despite the warnings
No one knew what was happening
And no one believed the truth
Though the world kept spinning
We refused to accept wisdom known
A new, terrible age was dawning
Soon humanity would seek
To abandon the planet
For there would be no survival
When nuclear winter strikes
After the enemies exchange blows
With weapons of no reprieve
The world's population dies
As the bombs never stop
Nuclear ash joins the snow
Those few not burned
By the nuclear fire
Starve to death
With ungrowing plants
Fallow fields and dying crops
