The Coming Fire and Flood

I spent the time I was supposed to be learning
Feeling like I'd be seeing the world's end come
Where nothing would matter, not even survival
The entire of life in endless, pointless yearning
Futures that will never come, I hear war drums
They drown out hope, Horsemen near arrival
Bringing famine, pestilence, war and hatred
Leaving a world where nothing's left sacred
I try to find the answers, but there are few
The flesh has faded, the dust has come
Our dreams are gone, our hopes are jaded
But we reject every answer, we've no clue
The Persian, Greek, Roman Empires all fell
All their skeletons and skulls became dust
Millennia pass Tigris and Euphrates go dry
The globe will be covered by fires that rage
By ocean waters rising to flood level
And as each disaster consumes our lives
There's nothing left but world's end
We have already found nothing left
We'll burn like the survivors of war
Like escapees of Vesuvius and Pompeii
Leaving only burnt remnants
And artifacts of a selfish age
