Riding Ships to the Future

Studied the stars and the winds, we knew how to reach the other shore
Knowing that path had come in our memory, not upon parchment
Every trip to the other side of the sea, we became skilled, trained
Sails born, oars rowing, all made strong, each prepared at our core
As currents however had changed, this was uncharted territory
The days of the discoverer are not the same without information
We'd try of course, getting halfway there, gone far already
We Vikings riding ships that already claimed knowledge
The ship structures, star to guide, sails were perfect
Expert seafarers, captains, tribes and fierce warriors
Some would return, as others be lost, as storms tear
Left behind by violence to freeze, decay in the ocean
Emptied vessels, gray bodies by millennium's end
New information, they'd bring it back and share
All Europe knowing, cold northern nightmare
