Icarus had only teen's ambition with little education
He was so bright with a father devoted to his future
Icarus was unwise and unworldly, unlike his father
Servant of a tyrant King, Midas, Daedalus acted fast
Here was the maker of so many things for his King
Designing a Labyrinth, new amazing clockworks
As Daedalus knew his owner would kill him
For Daedalus could make Midas ruler of the Sea
Crete, the great kingdom of old, was his alone
No release for Daedalus, no way for him to be free
Midas, whatever his wealth or power, wanted more
Over the entire basin of the Mediterranean Sea
Excited to have the project ready, finished to try
Daedalus revealed 2 sets of wings, human sized
The wild heart in Icarus barely heard his father's call
Don't rise too high my son, your wings will melt
I made them with feathers, wax and father's love
You were made unique, my perfect only son
In time you will fly, in time you will amaze some
But dare not tempt the sun, no matter how thrilling
But the sun's heat melted those wings, Icarus fell
From the Heavens... beyond, lost from his father
Daedalus felt an angst, a pain until his death
For he had given his son the vary means
To test fate, tempt the thrills, just like a teen
He had a broken his limit, forbidden for safety
Now Icarus was gone, unique or not, still dead
And rather than achieve destiny's great deeds
Forever, the loss a stone in a Father's heart
To which he'd never escape, guilt became...
The greatest unsolved labyrinth
