Broken promises, unfulfilled Dreams

The fire pit, burning chemicals directly into the atmosphere
By burning destroyed the chemicals, but had spread the ash
UN troops stood around boundaries to keep the viewers safe
As they'd watched, the toxins were released, free to multiply
Higher commands didn't care think about safety, of poisons
Many, in fact, were killed, as heroes for their service, assets
The civilian population died even more swiftly from poison
But in the end, someone met the end of noose, as a justice
And the world wasn't better for it, not even 35 years later
Some served were loved by their family, probably most
The rewards for suffering was not hospitalization
The families who demanded justice
Now became enemies of the state
All the voices of justice were drown
As practicing agents of sedition
