Our species was given a world of verdant lavish, lush life
With cavernous depths, blue oceans of water, life abundant
Tidal rhythms are constancy, leading to transformation
We couldn't have chosen a planet better to suit humanity
But in the near future, our species will have to decide
We've condemned this perfect planet and need to leave
To search for and find a new planet we can call home
Almost all new technology will be aimed at light speed
Whether we find a new home is an existential question
There is question without answer, extinction beckons
Bad choices have a great cost, now we are paying
The story of the species of humanity is unfinished
Resulting failure equals extinction of the species
