A Rose That Has Died

A rose that has died
Has beauty within it
Still
It remembers tears cried
And love of lovers it elicits
If it has less vibrancy
It is nonetheless true
A memory of what was good
As it loses vitality
And loses an appeal
It nonetheless remains
Proof

"I do not think that they ever stopped loving each other, but deep down in their nature they did not belong to one another.”  Hermann Hesse
