Trying to Find One Life

I've endured many lives and not one was worth the time and blood
My lives were all reduced to fear, reduced to living to pass the time
As Ovid said, I ask forgiveness not praise, for I'll be praised in full
Existence doesn't matter, my being does not beg for grace or rhyme
We're a bloom upon the wheat field, heavy and full, ready for a cull
It says nowhere we're meant to be happy, it says we should find joy

“Of course I’ll hurt you. Of course you’ll hurt me. Of course we will hurt each other.
But this is the very condition of existence. To become spring, means accepting the
risk of winter. To become presence, means accepting the risk of absence.”
