Politics by Blood 490 BC

Oh great Darius, we've known of your hunger, for Greek lands
But now your warriors bleed and they've their skulls crushed in
They followed your orders, men of the entire Persian Empire
As they've now been fully stopped on the beaches of Marathon
You sought our land, desired to kill or to enslave the Greeks
War was the test, but you failed, you've numbers but no power
Aimed towards villages and Athens, your violence rushing in
What's left of a dream, are we called to be foes, I don't know
So flee, pray your ships launch, instead of on burning shores
We're Greek and elect leaders, not monarchs, fields go fallow
The runner Pheidippides, gasping out his final breath,
Left us his message in death, "Rejoice, for we win!"
