Falling through an alien sky

A collision between our ship and an asteroid
Our craft was without oxygen, a broken hull
In near planet orbit, we lost our hull integrity
As we abandoned ship, all prayed to survive
We dropped through the atmosphere, slowing
Two of our crew landed, safely, of the twelve
To be rescued, we've no way of knowing?
On a completely alien (to us) planet
Without rescue, we'll be damned
Will there be anyone left?
