For the ones who left to fight
And never came back
For the ones who stayed
When the enemy attacked

For those who died, in foreign lands
When the invaders came
Or were cut down
Marching across the fields
Obeying commands

War is not the answer
But is reality
And death comes with that
So does victory
And loss
And the memories of that
Must be preserved

Thank those who deserve thanks
Regardless of the war in which they served
Veterans served

For a mother's son is upon either side of that war
In victory or loss
And they return broken
For seeing things
That should have never have happened
But are reality
