This Noble House
Our noble house was constant, we were loyal
Our fidelity to the Emperor, to his strength
A response to a need, served with diligence
300 years of service to the royal throne
Honor undisputed, we are hewn from stone
None will or can ever charge us with treason
Our joy is service, great faith is the reason
The Dragon is great, eternal, and omnipotent
So powerful, wise, majestic and innocent
None dare question if he was from Heaven sent
The Dead Men Fighting to Live
None of us were ready to die without a fight
Our entire cadre had all survived our ordeal
Struggle for one and all to arrive at this place
The end of the festival meant the final battle
Trumpets called, crowds amazed we survived
The end of the contest was our final call
We had always practiced a martial art form
The action in the arena for the week was wild
As crowds loudly screamed for their heroes
Booing lustfully every one of the villains
And they wanted all sides to die gloriously
In the day's hot sun, we'd soon pass over
Uneven sands covered in ichors and blood
The sweat and bleeding poured down my arm
Wounds from near strikes do not worry us
Nor the broken ribs and wrists, and skulls
Non fatal blows do not block our forward path
Given a chance to fight for my freedom
My hand proven in battle, I'd bring wrath
And then as I woo the emperor's charms
My survival here will let me be freed
And then, in that new world, what will life be
I'll need to learn to be a freeman, a Roman
Who escaped by battle a cruel and bestial world
“Do not act as if you were going to live ten
thousand years. Death hangs over you. While
you live, while it is in your power, be good.” Marcus Aurelius
An Awkward Moment
I know I am a hideous troll
But you are lovely
And I had to let you know
Please forgive this interruption
I'll now go
I am unable to explain
The struggle inside
I know it seems insane
But I can't endure
All the time waiting
For someone to respond
It was improper to ask
Your attention
So I'll go
But I'll remember you
As long as I live
Forever begins now
My life has taken a toll
Upon all I am
I am forced to speak
When others would remain quiet
I am forced to reveal
All that should be kept silent
I'll go
It is well passed the time
For me to move on
My anxiety grows
And my presence
Becomes alien
Driving others to anger
But I am the one
Who has been made mad
Due to the loss of control

It is my fault, I am the fool
You know, I don't know why I did it but did freely
And gave you every ounce of my misplaced trust
I was a fool, you then used me, you were so cruel
There were no games being played, I'd just failed
Couldn't understand a world that didn't have rules
With no claims against you, you see me as insane
Who on the planet would do what I seem to choose
So thank you for opening my eyes, to all my flaws
Stare into the abyss, caught in a responding gaze
I am aware of it all, and deeply stare now instead
Into a black hole of compassion, with a great awe
Fishing village
The fishing village sits upon the edge of the ocean
As the people make a living from the rich harvest
Each day they go out, the ocean blue is their partner
The ocean never changes, only roils in the storms
Perfectly beautiful, the creator must be an artist
He provides sustenance for the village and beyond
Storms cannot stop them, not even when warned
For the truth is our hunger never wanes
Hunger drives us again and again
Even into realms of danger
Burn it down
Come, oblivion, come
Upon the horizon is violence
Black smoke consuming
All that lays before it
Madness, hatred, ignorance
Devour the hopes
Destroy the dreams
Everything
And leaves nothing in the wake
but ash
One way or another
We chose the darkness that covers
Every single inch
Of our retched existence
What was beautiful, is now dull
What was majestic, and full
Now is hollowed
We are our own demons
We are the fools
Stealing the joy and hope
Removing our belief
Crushing faith
The black smoke chokes
Life from the living
And no one is forgiving
We are all the guilty
None are innocent
Of our sins
Of the way we live
What we believe
The disaster is what we earned

Crows Watching
Giving the look of a slaughter house
All hope to survive have since fled
There is reason for the event, no blame
There are no survivors fleeing
No one lives, the field is emptied
A white canvas scattered red
A blanket that is white and soft
There are no survivors, no life
But for the crows aloft
The warriors broken and slain
Turn
Former Friend
It is an act of fearlessness
Giving up a debt that someone has
Even if one owes a debt that's vast
You asked me to return to a friendship
And to forget the reasons
Why you're now friendless
You've chosen
Over the years
To continue to abuse me
And then you come back
Falsely acting friendly
Your need does not mean
I must respond
Your actions and words
Both, destroyed the bond
We've nothing left, I am alone
Please go away, find a new home
I can't be what you now want
It is a choice that haunts
I will truly forgive you
But that is all I can
And, please note
All I will do

The Memories Are There
Winds across golden plains, thick with grass, the remnants remind us
Our world has seen tragedy, victory, fates unfulfilled and destiny lost
Many imagine our world to be vast, with the echoes of a vibrant past
The future is not composed of intent, nor woven with grace, paradox
We are ignorant of the truth, but it isn't our fault, we cannot perceive
Which leaves a world of unsolved mysteries and holes in her history
Officer Down
Fishing Boats Wait For Dawn's Light
Perfectly calm waters
Sparkling reflect light
The shimmering surface
Reflects glorious effects
Of an ocean now honored
Awakening from the night
For its beauty must sleep
Or it will not shine again
Without rest, dreamless
So tired, no longer serene

Redheaded Princess
With a spirit and fire
I know other men
Desire her
I know she moves me
She is spectacular
With beauty and style
Dressed in her finest attire
Red hair strikes the eye
She is as a royal highness
With a beauty that never lies
I know I'm biased but I must try
So I'll tell her, I will tell her
That I believe in forever
Her allure I cannot resist
She must come there with me
So that we can find out
Together
If not
Why should I even exist
The Decay
Every breath brings pain, the heart aches
We struggle with insanity, burnt at the stake
Our world is in decay, our world shakes
We cannot save the world, we are not a savior
We can only save our selves following the path
Of creator, the great architect, our world's maker
Our lungs struggle to pull in air, a thick haze
Our minds struggle to exhibit due care
We've been broken, our world decayed
There is nothing left if no hope remains
The Night's Shadow
I seek souls that might be worthy
For I bestow a gift, some call a curse
I follow every alley
Move down all pathways forward
For a soul to join me
For eternal misery beckons
And I am not one to cause torment
No, I seek company there
When I draw their blood
I replace their mortal soul
With an eternal flame
And they will walk the path
Of eternity's grace
With me ever more
Death is not a destiny
Death is a door
The world outside
We shall terrorize
We shall bring wrath
And sleep forever in embrace

Beautiful Elysium
The breeze is cool, the scent of heather drifts
The weather never changes, day to day the same
The rains that fall renew, never winds and storms
And my mood here finds hope, always, it lifts
Somehow the gods saw fit to remember my name
Elysium, Elysium, I've come here to sleep
But only in your blessed holy embrace
Only in your embrace I long to be near
In Fair and Beautiful Elysium
Stuck Before the Gate
The flock of swallows ride an upswing
Of the wind that is rising to the clouds
Where a former father wanders hopeless
His life changed forever by the one day
And he'd thought he knew everything
But his hubris caused him to be proud
He didn't care about the fears of others
Shattered by doubt, smothered by shame
He didn't realize the dangerous world
That could exist and could take from him
Everything in his life worth living for
Choosing to end this existence, a response
With two cuts from a knife and he sits
Upon a ledge, nearly on Heaven's edge
Without a way to get in, he just waits
Watches for signs, no hope lingers within
Without a thought, he is still, he shakes
But he will never move from that place
He says It doesn't matter now
Nor the way it was, nor how it should be
All that matters is his final breath
As he is spending his final days
My Love, I have Returned
I was riding the dusty trails
While chasing a foolish dream
I sleep the sleep of the damned
Twisting and turning throughout
This quest I am on, brings doubts
I believed in my words, truly
I could not trust in my feelings
But now, still upon my quest
I've failed my test
I could be lost in the sands
Never returning
Never see you again
But I am desolate
I linger in life
Without hope, vexed
For you have been the only one
That could steal me from this path
And I will return to you tonight
My love
For I am aware
Like never before
That the heart inside me
Beats only in your presence
It has scars as if I've been to war
And I need to be healed
By being near you
Forever more

Dismembered Memories, Dislocated Heart
You know I left this existence long ago
Only this flesh remains here for you
I couldn't bear that you'd be alone
Nothing wrong with being through
You loved me is more than enough
I have lost my way, I've grown tired
So you can have this fading body
The heart inside beats only for you
It is your very own, that's the truth
It only beats for you, only for you
To Linger There
Crows flee the corn fields
As a rain with thunder comes
The land has been so dry
It weeps for joy, and cries
Parched by the sun, daily
The sky was so blue it bled
Now comes the final yield
The children of earth fed
The humans will eat well
If the crows get wet
It is a minor annoyance
For those who linger
Above the black earth
Of the province
Of the fields of gold
As planted by our lord
Gray Sky
I walk the cemetery pathway
I wait for you, to say something
Looking upon Heaven's delight
The dead ensconced in their gloom
Gravestones covering each plight
Each shell of life now entombed
Their time ended far too soon
My flesh is aging, I decay
Soon I'll meet my own doom
Your life passed into the gray
Your call to me echoes and rages
I hear it, I will join you today
Before all living things turn dust
The toll of our lusts all paid
Every tombstone aligned
All the dead lay sublime
Trust of others finally betrayed
By the enemy of flesh called time

Drowned Fisherman
His family gathered, after learning he died
The village boats had left under dark skies
A family needs to eat, even with the storms
Clouds gave portent, they were forewarned
In storms at least some fish can be caught
And without food a new horror is wrought
His boat turned over, as he let out a scream
A village weeps, writing life's new tragedy
Tax This
A generation lost, becoming scarred
Life was better back when
We weren't slave to oil
We weren't required to fight
For the material wealth of those
Who never serve, never pay a price
In due time such a way of living
Creates consequences
The society will hates its warriors
And then hate those in blue
Fighting the street wars
Even the emergency workers
Who try to save
Why believe in a dream
When the system steals
Making you become a wage slave
Making heroism a lie
And money the ultimate glory
We will rewrite the dream
We must create a new story
For all to believe and trust in
Danger
We are told children fear the dragon
But that we are also given means
To fight the same
But we hide our heart in a fashion
And nothing is ever what it seems
To lie is shame
We must slay the beast within us
We must face our own defeat
And fight anyway
Stillborn hopes are able to bring us
To places we need to believe
Victory comes in this way

Yes there is love, but no
It comes then as no surprise
I love you sincerely
You are a sparkle in my eyes
My adoration shows through
Genuine affection does that
I can't be more than that, though
More than what you've known
Love is a wildfire if one allows
It consumes fuel, from any source
And if you are careless
It will grow and grow
It will cremate you
Destroy everything
There is no greater message
I mean to send because I love you
But only as a friend
I admire your intellect and your being
But if you force me
Everything will end
And despite my admiration
I will have to enter isolation
Because you knew my boundaries
From the start
I am anything but careless
In the matters of the heart
I consider myself to be a knight
From the order of the White Rose
My love for you is innocent
It runs deeply through me
And I won't allow that love to be bent
No matter how it works
I have to be honorable to my word
Kiss Me, My Lord
I've experienced difficult choices to make
Receiving the punishments and shame
With no expectations of mercy
Acts of greed, of selfish need
Some crimes receive absolution
I've no reason to expect a thing
I'll receive no such gentle grace
With all that's happening
You must know, the end has begun
I promise you I know how I will twist
As I sway in the wind I'll be called pollution
A toxic stain upon the empire's human face
He will be broken for that I am chosen
No others are willing to conform
But I was given a command
And I consider myself a soldier
For we are at war
I have a duty to fulfill
I'm both a rebel and a fool
Kiss my rabbi and betray a man
And my deed will have been done
I've been given 30 shekels
Don't be confused, I do understand
I know this labor well that I'm about to perform
My name will be traitor for generations
But I seek no forgiveness
For I've been allowed to achieve an end
What I did was not for my benefit
But for that of the movement
I will never return home
I will be hated for millennia
But I've achieved by my one simple act
Something no other rebel or politician has
By my one act I will sow the seeds
That will destroy Rome
Forever
Secrets kept
Yeah I heard that rumor
I know you wanted to ask
But my life's not yours
For entertainment
Your sordid pleasures
So don't be such an ass
Acting as if you're kept
In some dank basement
Away from public view
You don't understand
You say you need to know
You can ask
You can even demand
But nothing will change
I still have a private life
I prefer my own dreams
I keep my secrets kept
I'd rather lose what we have
Than think I have a master
You can try to intercept
But I'll not be your victim
You can try to kidnap
You won't succeed

To Kill a Beast
One wore an image upon them
Featuring that creature
And to slay something evil
The weapon, too bore an image
Of the hunted prey
In ways, to kill a dragon
One must become a dragon
To think like a beast
One must look like
Be like it and kill like it
Where do I find an image of cancer
For all of my beloveds it has killed
I wish to slay it, I wish to see it die
Until it is gone I will be unfulfilled
Relentless Endings
Perceives decay
Now all is rotten
Feeling quite bold
Enacting the plan
Still a sad task
She then proceeds
Unties the bonds
Unravels the knots
Removes the cord
Doesn't stop to ask
He screams "Stop!"
But it doesn't help
Nothing and no one
Can ever do that
He realizes he faces
A person determined
To change destiny
To change a legacy
To stop the future
Dead in the tracks
He tries in vain
To prevent the death
Of a long romance
One would see love
While the other saw hate
With one final act
A chapter ends
One life goes on
And the other
Fades away
Dreams Fulfilled, As a Harvest in an Orchard
When the joy falls like rain
As you walk gently forward
You know the single fact
You've fallen in love
And there you will remain
Dreams full, like harvest in an orchard
To sip from the divine chalice
You drink and it remains filled
A heart having a hope attack
And all you have is enough
For there is a mystery
Of how to be fulfilled
By giving and trusting
The more you love
The more you are able to love
It goes beyond sex and the tactile touch
There is something deeper inside
Than can be understood
And never described
The joy washes over you
This is the life you wanted to live
As you realize it is true
There is nothing greater
Than to love another
Not only lust, but an innocent trust
That only a heart in love can give
Matthew 9:37-38 ESV
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

Days of Darkness
Darkness falls for days
The sun darkens, terror
As the valkyr take flight
Our existence enters decay
And right becomes wrong
Now fall the warriors of light
As earth succumbs to a rage
Hear bestial, angry throngs
Our known lives never return
All that is good will be gone
And then, nothing will matter
Forever beyond, ever again
Journal Note: Employment of human staff
A hand to scratch the belly
A heart filled with love and awe
This human was just right for now
But
Should dinner ever be delayed
Should my sand be at all dirty
Should my paws grow too long of claws
This staff contract will be disavowed
At that sad time we must change
It is what we must do
It isn't personal
It shall be for the benefit of each and all
Impact Approaching
The pulse and the impact act as one
Crushing the life from the believer
The comet lands and burns the earth
We've arrived, on this day, all is done
Placed our trust in the great deceiver
Oblivion's cold embrace is the worst
We've lost our way, and surrendered
We are a species once great
Never to be remembered
As the survivors are consumed
By the pestilence and decay
The end looms ahead, we are doomed
For then the living will envy the dead
The suffering is great and inexorable

As the World Burns
As war still kills and burns
Elite forces gather
Each rises to fight
As they ride into the fire
Upon swift iron steeds
The warriors refuse failure
For their enemy will return
The next morning they come
Battle commences again
They've given battle all day
They're exhausted by night
Each side of battle is tired
Exhaustion that grows
But they respond to need
And victory is their grail
They fight for their home
And should they ever fall
The lives and hope of all
Will then forever pass
Hidden behind the veil
From Above the Blue Sphere
The scientists enabled a dream
By allowing humans to ascend
Without wings, instead using fire
Below the globe seems so serene
We've created a message to send
Informing the galaxy of our desire
We will enter space, pursue exploration
By expanding our reach, finding hope
We avoid our intellectual stagnation
By contacting other species, we'll grow
Until such time, we must choose to fly
And by doing so we choose to be more
We know that the earth will die
Survival of our species burns in us
We are earth's desperate spawn
In our core a desire to reach the sky
To someday reach distant shores
We must leave this world
As it turns, we seek, we flee
Our planet goes on
Even should we arrive
Upon an alien surface
With no familiar sun
With no home planet
No golden dawn
Dancing
Intricately upon the head of a pin
They were elegant, graceful their feet
Earth bound ballerinas look clumsy
If we were to compare
And the number I arrived at
Made the scholars blush
For they had no way of knowing
How they've been so very wrong
Performing their task
To know that God is enormous
With power and love infinite
They stopped to count feet
Of angels on the pin
Rather than wonder
In awe find their heart smiling
To know they've been a part
Of a perfect God's perfect plan
All along
(No it doesn't matter if they actually did this, there is a metaphor and context for this madness)

To Be Considered a Warrior and yet seek to be Holy
Not when I am dead
Nor by living my life
But instead
How I carry out my duty
I was given a new spirit
My sins atoned for
My personal sacrifice
Of a life given to my land
A soul given to my lord
I honor my God
My Lord died upon a cross
For me to now defend his children
I believe and I live out my beliefs
And I will die for them
Whoever the enemy may be
Asylum's Echoes
It is sport to them, they are fools
I obey the rules
I follow every law
Still they aim to crush me
To teach me lessons
About my madness
But they are ignorant
They are cruel
They know nothing
Not me, not my life
And oh
How they predict my fall
To them it is a game
They shout with glee
Let us hear the applause
For this fool in our hands
He is finished with treatment
Now we will place him in a cell
For months on end
With no contact
We hope to break him
To crush his spirit
To steal the hope from his mind
And lead him to a decision
Found in a round room
He will be consumed
Like everyone else
Who will not acquiesce
Exquisite Beauty
The purity of the view has great allure
No human could ever create such a thing
We are not equal to the artist, the architect
Creating his minions of reality and dream
Then creating time, nature and the universe
We stand, breathe and to the heavens sing
We cannot understand how one so perfect
Would choose to spend time with our being
For these many reasons and more, we worship
It's found in the depths of those who believe
For it is the sacred creator whom we seek
And return to him, never again to leave

Time Flows
It is relentless, inevitable even inexorable
Like soldiers, time marches
Doing the goose step
Celebrating its dominance
It is prideful, powerful, never ends
Unlike soldiers who all die
By chance, battle or in old age
Time never relents, it never pretends
It just knows whether we are happy
Or hold deep and bitter regret
It holds complete and abject power
It marches on and soon
We disappear in the flow
We are dust, time is the wind
We are the lost, can never win
In uneven battles, with seconds and hours
First Love, Last Love, Only Love
My first love, my heart's home
You never let go of my being
Saving me from a life alone
You are beautiful, moving me
As time passes, my hair turns white
And my body moves with groans
But I still think of you
With each first thought of day
And with my last thought at night
We'll both enter forever together
You'll hold my hand, making it tight
Never let me go, keep me near
I long to be in your presence
There's nowhere I'd rather be
So hold me tight, be with me
Here, and forever
Eat or Die
Many Americans are fat
But everyone must eat
We all die if we do not eat
So there must be a way forward
Perhaps let the first come last
Let us learn to wash our beloved's feet
Care for the disadvantaged
Understand homelessness
Make every meal a moment of holiness
Reminding ourselves of the roots
And become separated from food
Make it special, never to be abused
If we hold food as sacred
Perhaps we won't seek it for pleasure
If we recognize needs of others
Perhaps we'll find our treasures
We must try to return to innocence
Let us join in a great repast and give thanks
For every ounce of our sustenance

Enough
Drawing our hearts in the sand
They wash away with the tides
But hearts can be drawn and fade
Without any understanding
Of the way of love
For it is enough
Even as the years bring change
Our world can decay
But our love will still endure
Even if we do not
Because love is enough
Love is pure
Love has an eternal allure
And I refuse to let it end
Love is the sole message
I long for you, and always have
Venus Grieves
Did you ever realize that Venus was sad
Her body perfect, her face was beautiful
Lust born in the moment she was seen
But her life was torment, always so sad
She was filled with doubt
Never wanting the gifts she had
They never asked her thoughts
No one allowed her to have feelings
As all her prospective potential lovers
Declared her a prize of a battle
The reward of a wars now fought
She knew they were looking at her flesh
Rather than measuring her being's worth
A Goddess of love, unrequited
Wanting now to reject the touch
She was not allowed true love
For when men see great beauty
They see a prize, in their eyes
A conquest, a false dream
We only trust in lust, not our belief
And Her great beauty meant
She'd never be perceived
As she alone saw herself
So haunting to be left grieving
Never wanted for who she was
And who she would be
Memoria
If so, death becomes a welcome portion of the journey
Even if the body is exhausted, the spirit is honed
The only source of sorrow can be time
Even then, the passage can be worthy
Nothing left but a pile of bones
“Unbeing dead isn't being alive.” E. E. Cummings

Ignoring the Oprhan's Calls
The citizens of the world aren't able to choose
And those giving them options aren't honest
We choose the easy path, one without wrath
Choosing asylum's walls, ignoring orphan's calls
Hunger exists and we are complicit
