She lingered there, in his presence
Knowing he'd not be there for long
He'd been a stranger, if also jealous
Of the time he'd not been able to have
With his family
Growing old, and dying
His daughter now crying
As he did
Even if he tried hiding it
No one knows the depths
Or consequences
Of our every day actions
Lessons we teach without knowing
He wasn't an innocent
He made choices to leave
Didn't parent, or share his life
Assuming any child would come
When they ready to find him
Instead of doing what he'd done
Fostering the wanderlust within
And engaged the entire world
Instead of loving his world
One that he'd created
Loving those in his reach
We all make mistakes
His sins were intentional
Causing the situations
They both now grieved
But in her heart
There is forgiveness
A powerful choice
The resonance more powerful
Than all others, all forms and sorts
Including abandonment and regret
