Giving

One was poor, with nothing to give,
But she gave everything
The other had a life before her
So she waited for the ring
One was powerful in spirit, feared nothing
She repeatedly beat cancer
The other was weak and cowardly
She had zero answers
Life takes some and drowns them
Pull down in the ocean's tide
Some are able to swim
Even if others drown over time
One gave her time and love
And seemingly endless energy
The other gave her eggs
Then cast him out
One lived to create a hope
An amazingly lush legacy
The other lived in fear
Every moment of life in doubt
Some give when they have nothing
Give the whole of their life
Even their own safety
The other give eggs and nothing more
And have the time to demure
Walking quickly away
Forever thereafter
