Burdens of an Absurd Existence

A lifetime was spent without hope, but that didn't stop me from yearning
With my broken back, and beneath a heavy weight, a grotesque burden
I cannot go on, my ego has collapsed, this flesh can't go on, I'm burning
With nothing left inside, no hope or dream, my world around me crashed
Endless are my labors, can't continue without hope, this breath is my last
Unless I learn to endure, and I find a way to mentally overcome my task

"The workman of today works every day in his life at the same tasks, and
this fate is no less absurd. But it is tragic only at the rare moments when
it becomes conscious." Albert Camus

Love is throwing off the chains

After throwing off the chains
Of a society that demands
The sort of family
Or relationships we are allowed
So now when we are told
We can love anyone
No longer who to love
Nor how to love
Why to love
Or in what form
Or date on the package
We resist because now know
Love redeems
It is organic
It isn't based on logic
It happens when followed
By an acquiesance to facts
Our soul needs to completion
By one that is not ourselves
Love comes with an act
From inside not on command
And now
We can see the arrogance
Of someone demanding rights
Imposing their own choices
Allowing only the designs or ideals
They hold true
We will see the ignorance
When people say
Love is the most important thing
Then declare certain matches to be wrong
To assert if two souls find each other
To somehow be a function of abuse
Rather than love
If not composed in their ideal
It is not enough to say words
Love is love, and everyone needs love
So whatever the match
Whatever the season of life
Upon which horse they ride
Whatever the gender
Whatever the need inside
Adults can choose
Whoever they are moved by

Red Wine and Memory

Should hope is be gone
Let the memories be fire
Let's remember the times
We found reasons to love
Which gave reason to live
Rather than ponder motive
I know I was wrong
Please let me be forgiven
For having been young
And so damn stupid
Let us share a breath of the divine
Let us be gentle and share
Let the rage be for love,
Please have some wine
Let us start over, I love you
Letting our flaws fade
And be lost in the haze
Find out that we care
We've forgotten so many ways
We found to love again

Defense Against the Invaders

The other world invader conquered our planet
And the humans were made to perform labor
Slaves and collaborators made up the species
For the great defenses of earth were betrayed
Then humankind rebelled and raised havoc
First the guards were slain, then the traitors
Then the points of alien power were seized
And the enemy was then made to pay
With their blood they died
The few who survive placed in bondage
That alien race made to pay for the invasion
So that others would enter contemplation
Over the cost of invading a planet
That has long since been devoted to war

No Resistance

We live upon a small blue planet
With extravagant views and beauty
As a species we are blessed
Our destiny awakens
Existence calls us to this place
And our minds perceive a time
That has manifest glory and power
The moments prepares us
Gives us a pathway
We can see our future
When our souls become redeemed
And our nature becomes serene
If we understand and discover
The mysteries are solved
And know, we must become more
More than our fears
More than our hunger
If we can achieve this
Time will fade away
Existence becomes endless
Our dreams become vast
Yes will die and we've no resistance to death
But life is more than the perceived limits
Of flesh, of time, of the depths of our flaws
We must become more
Than the lovers of pleasure
Gatherers of great treasures
Hoarders of material items
Life is more than breathing, feeling
And death is a doorway to forever
Death is neither alien to us
Nor is birth unique
And between the two
We must learn to simply be
Learn that having no resistance to death
Removes the questions from our life
It gives us complete control
Over the destination ahead
Over the what we know
In the tapestry of one's soul

Straight in the eyes

She stood, stared me straight in the eyes
And she told me the most delicious lies
That she loved me, and would never leave
Had she stayed, I might've believed
But this isn't my first dance,
It's not my first chance
I'm not going to see it through
Whatever your point of view
I don't want to hate someone
I don't want to be hated
Don't care about the circumstance
They never change
My heart has to be on guard
Ready to be stolen, mistaken or warned
Not ready to be hurt again
Not ready to cry over someone
Who doesn't want remain with me
In the stupid place I find myself in

Fleeting Sorrow

Like the catastrophic waves of a rising tide
Death and time collide with the winds of fate
Crying for the recent lost now mingles freely
Tears that accompany arrival of a new born babe
The cycle goes on, when life replaces death
Names forgotten traded for the newly christened
The proof of the cycle is that it is truly exalted
As every being upon the earth draws breath
As soon as birth we hear a call if we listen
Surely life endures sorrow, moving undaunted
A beginning uncelebrated may be then venerated
By the end of this and every following generation

A Princess of Power

Her desire for power was matched only by her allure
She was a crown princess, but with a false demure
She used charm with no romantic feelings inside
So dangerous, her venom found in words and dagger
Standing above her followers, her enemies cowered
With her decisive acts as monarch, none dared question
If her grand schemes would abide, or how she'd decide
As she made allies, subdued enemies in the same breath
She condemned prisoners with a venom of an adder
An army of foolish males would fall before her power
And she cared not one ounce for any other human
Her dream lover visited nightly, in her sleep
And she longed to join them in dream

The Torch

Our children are bearers of the torch
Lights a fire that illuminates the night
We've no reason to hold them back
Our values and ideas become a forge
Teaching our children what is right
But there are those who push prozac
To make things work well, quickly
We've learned one must be drugged
To follow, without questioning
We must fight for our children
For they are often attacked
And we leave them to fight alone
Their mistakes become our own
We must stand with them
From horizon to horizon
And make them know
We are with them, to help, to guide
And not leave them to solve our problems
For we created those
And those are our own to fight

The Garden Of Gods

By our hand we've now created life
In microscopes, petri dishes, test tubes
We fear death, and end of our existence
Human life spans are limited in time
The Garden of Eden as genetic soup
A DNA lab of creation and persistence
We've cloned our selves, cells, our pets
We created new organs and limbs to fit
Science is neutral, most discoveries benign
We bow down before it, as if it is an altar
We might well call ourselves Frankenstein
It'd be appropriate to call us his monster
How can we ever be proud of our actions
Cloaking ourselves in fetid vile fashions
For the sake of comfort, fear, and leisure
We've become the victims of wanting more
Which is odd consider our dissatisfaction
With the lives that we live being unaltered

We are the Machine

We were told how to dream
To enter a zone of controlled thought
As if our minds were machines
We were commanded to believe
As if a manufactured scheme
To prepare for a world now wrought
But the modern world is difficult
Not imagined, destruction imminent
Told abandon hope, wouldn't relent
Told to abandon dreams
We did not pretend
We might escape into sleep
Fate might well be foreseen
We know the idea of fate is obscene
And we know
That life is even more
Than anything we might dream

“Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality.”  Lewis Carroll

Your Lust is Honest, Your words are a lie

I had thought you were honest when you said
How deeply you were in love with me, then
What I've experienced is dishonesty instead
Your behavior is the message that you sent
Telling my best friend that you wanted him
You lusted him, in the same way you did me
Know that is no mistake, but a pattern within
Revealing your lies, and dirty secrets you keep

More than Enough

You took my smile, and then took my hope
Gave me the proper length of rope
You told me the height at which I'd swing
Then left me in the wind
You called my name, gave me a kiss
Poured down shame, let me twist
You consumed my broken flesh
You stole my fragile breath
Now I refuse your condemnation
With you I suffer
Emotional starvation
But this will end
No more cannibal feast
You hunger for me, like a beast
Consume my flesh no more
I burn in anguish at my core
This is the end
We are done

Clay

Your tired flesh is just a clay vessel
Perfectly created, refined and worthy
Woven with a spirit bound beneath
A creator's hand upon a clay wheel
Weaving the flesh so that it may revel
And by paying the cost of the journey
The creative gift can be just to breathe
Our body is fragile but the soul is steel
And it is time we find our flesh gone
For our soul is forever thereafter free

Dancing Children In the Ruins

A broken fountain in the city ruins
Concrete children dance in a circle
War having slaughtered a community
But there the children gleefully dance
For the citizens the war brought doom
Life is not a promise, but death is certain
Our kindness is thereby required, and a unity
Between acts of violence and vagaries of chance
We are not able to survive, without taking control
Making certain love wins, never acts of circumstance

“The street is no longer measured by meters but by corpses ... Stalingrad is no longer a town. By day it is an enormous cloud of burning, blinding smoke; it is a vast furnace lit by the reflection of the flames. And when night arrives, one of those scorching howling bleeding nights, the dogs plunge into the Volga and swim desperately to gain the other bank. The nights of Stalingrad are a terror for them. Animals flee this hell; the hardest stones cannot bear it for long; only men endure.”  Max Hastings, Inferno: The World at War, 1939-1945

25 April, 1945: Allies Meet at the Elbe

The Allied Intervention told the Soviets all they needed to know
Their revolution meant they were alone among the world's nations
The USSR saw isolation, the tragedy of civil war, trying to survive
As the new Germany saw a dictator rise up to take absolute power
A time of civil war in Spain allowed each side to take full measure
And from a distance, the Soviet Union knew, soon they'd struggle
Eventually, despite treaty of neutrality, it had became their hour
Invasion by an army of international opponents of Communism
Dive bombers and tanks, foot soldiers and naval bombardment
Saw the early days threaten all of the progress of previous years

The United Kingdom had fought alone, against the Nazi horde
Surviving by the naval strength, defended by their brave air force
And when the United States was drawn into the mass conflict
The sides were fully drawn, Democracy and Socialist states
Against Nazi Germany and her allies, a racist and nationalist foe
FDR had said, our two countries were both born of revolution
Stalin distrusted all of the capitalist states, but had a higher goal
He would face Russia's greatest enemy, even if they fought alone
Nine of every ten Nazi soldiers killed, died from Soviet attack
With additional arms made and sent by Americans workers
The Soviet machine the bristled with weapons, aircraft and tanks

The forces had a goal of meeting, in the center of Germany
Political lines were drawn by the leaders of the various nations
But soldiers were not politicians, and agreed to lines on the maps
US and British allies would assault Fortress Europe in the West
The Soviets and assorted units would pour in from the East
Many casualties taken, the forces of Germany were forsaken
The Allies bombed German industrialized areas, crushing morale
The combined might of Democratic nations and Soviets
Created a vision of Nazi Germany's leaders view of final Hell
When Americans and Soviets met upon the river Elbe
Now the European war was truly over
For the Nazi high tide reached an ebb

Tight Wire

Loving you was to walk a tight wire
Dangerous, exciting, joyful or dire
But upon reaching the other side
I was emptied from the insides
I loved you and I always have
Wanted to be your only man
You wanted attention from all
Don't understand it, never will
Turned a love story into noir
But perhaps that's my flaw
I was foolish, and gave you my heart
Now you are a chapter in my memoir

Forever Ends

Your actions and words had left me reeling
Because I was unaccustomed to the honesty
Those words cut my throat, stole my dream
You left me bleeding and unable to scream
My flesh won't endure, my spirit has fled
I won't give you the dignity of words said
Your actions painted a picture, using red
As we both know that you wish me dead
I'll just leave, and let forever end

Upon learning our fate, we shall break

An attendant madness is omnipresent
For this darkness brings with it a plague
We see our society as it is breaking apart
With sounds of anger laced with regret
In the midst, lunacy strikes her black flag
Powerless, our being is composed of scars
Witness a world sewn, threads of misery
We've woven a tapestry, ignorant of history
We cannot understand our beckoning fate
Know that we exist in a dangerous place
To achieve greatness, if hope is to be found
Our destiny will become a holy ground
I ask, how do you get from here to there
Is a cost of existence one that is ever fair?

I can see you are well

It is so nice to see you again
Thanks for the invitation
I see you've changed your hair
Yes, of course I care, I do
You dance with him well
Like you had danced with me
Now
Perhaps you already know
I'm going away
Because I'm in Hell
I'm not with you
While you are happy
I am bereft from loss
You wounded my life
You drew me out of my shell
Then broke my heart
There's nothing I can do
That can change the past
There's nothing I can do
To survive the present
Exposed to existential danger
Grossly hurt and unwell
Because I still love you
And there's nothing I can do
But smile, I wish you well
Story after story I will tell
About how great I'm doing

Zep Tepi: Moment of Creation

The Egyptians called into life in verse
With the vast ocean, lifeless, named Nu
Finally had form, existence given birth
It was offered as a beginning of being
The moment would be called Zep tepi
The human children of creation viewed
As life then sprang up across the earth
A complex future heart began beating

THE MISSION

Before the mission I had feared little
But my family had feared a great deal
Thinking I'd be stranded, lost, unreachable
That I'd become a lost organic space relic
Upon my safe, return, I spoke to them
And then I had to address the entire world
I'd told them how I'd flown through space
It was real, dangerous, inexorably vast
A visceral world, not one of my imagination
It was a silent void, an isolated, cold place
Upon cold ocean moons there lingered hope
Beneath the ice the echoes of life in hibernation
In space flesh would be stripped from bones
Without my space suit I'd be a dead, drifting
Even so, all of my comrades were dead
And in the vast emptiness I was alone
Distant from home, I'd forgotten my mission
Not fears for my own self, but for the earth
I had to find it in me to return, and endure
When I saw the planet, a blue globe turning
I was moved, to tell others what had been
I had to tell others of hope for our survival
We would have visitors, mentors and guides
Our world would change upon their arrival
And the world would change from our home
To the place we were born, and eventually left
To explore the far reaches of space
As we achieve fulfillment of our destiny

A Modern Plague

Not that far into the future
Will they gather our bones
Will they isolate our genes
Due to a plague of nature
In a quarantine, in homes
This was a surreal dream
Of a time we were certain
Truly, a waking nightmare
Is life so precious to keep
That we stifle hope for fear
Are we slaves to our form
Ignoring every warning
Yes we could keep inside
Refusing to see day's light
Sleeping rather than living
By refusing human contact
We will be living in the night
Ignorant beasts and fools
Or cat burglars and thieves
Attempting to flee our plight

A Tempest

An amazing tempest grows in strength
Offering its contempt, our quiet is rent
These obsidian clouds, winds soaring
  Torturously twisting, dancing before us
Vicious sharp cutting winds blowing
The danger obvious, ever growing
Complex, powerful voice of nature
Disrupts the present, threatens a future
Arrogant humanity refuses the warnings
A sort of ignorance leading to mourning
It would seem that we prefer surprise
We refuse to see despite having eyes
Come now, darkness, pour down upon us
Our flesh temporary, we all become dust
We forget nature is upper and foremost
We do not, cannot see danger imposed
For we are blind by choice
And ignore nature's voice

“He in his madness prays for storms, and dreams
that storms will bring him peace”  Mikhail Lermontov

A Dark Abandoned Place

The land returned to wild
There the wolves still hunt
The few humans survive
Gathered into small tribes
Modern people abandoned it
Chernobyl's death was an event
Shattering visions for a future
All turned torment and torture
Disaster beyond modern measure
Relentless sorrow ongoing
We have wounded our mother
In the search for treasures
We should never have begun
Radiation reaches each horizon

“The antinuclear sentiments of both leaders were soon strengthened by a man-made nuclear catastrophe that seemed to fit right in with the biblical prophecy of Armageddon that had impressed Reagan so much: 'A great star fell from the sky, flaming like a torch; and it fell on a third of the rivers and springs. The name of the star was Wormwood; and a third of the water turned to wormwood, and men in great numbers died of the water because it was poisoned' [Revelation 8:10]. The Ukrainian word for 'wormwood' is Chernobyl.”  Michael Dobbs

When the Streets Burn

Loudly the crowds roar
A din, a demonic sound
A city in torture screams
They start burning it down
The children suffering
The masses churning
This is a living nightmare
The wages of sin are chaos
While there are those fleeing
A rare few reach out to help
Angry hands cause a burn
Thereafter there is born
A new martyr's land
A future sacred ground
For those who are standing
Waiting for justice's call
Offering their lives to all
For the system to fall
Weighted down by the sin
Of destruction of lives
Abandoning of just laws
While order disintegrates
A future grows more dark
As we destroy our only home
Leaving behind scars
And hate unabated

Love is a line in the sand

To love another unconditionally
Is a way of making a last stand
Your love is a line in the sand
It says never cross this or else
You've loved me in a way
That you can never forget
Love has a list of demands
But what if I've nothing left
Except for bad things
Like sorrow and regret
So ask me why I might stay
There is only that line
Etched in the sand
I'd never pretend
My heart is weakened
For the lack of love
From the other side
You either do love someone
Or you can't do that
You can't halfway love someone
But I love you
While you work to deceive me
And long ago crossed the line

When the Earth is Wounded

We live in a world that has been cruelly abused
The land colored by destruction, famine and wars
Once a pristine place, now scorched black by fire
Our beautiful world has been broken and scarred
Those who are responsible will not be refused
The hunger forces them to continually consume
A world's resources emptied by us, even carved
The future hopes have been burned upon a pyre
Where the children of new generations will starve
Leading to disaster, and a destiny that is doomed

“Handling a dead body is not a repugnant or frightening
experience and, somehow,
it helps to accept the fact that
the soul of that person has gone if you treat the body

with reverence and respect before it is finally disposed of
by cremation or burial.”
 Jennifer Worth

Phone nonsense

You didn't answer when I called
I knew that you were there
Not answering, being in a mood
I tried to reach out then to say
I love you, will never give in
I had set myself up for a fall
Didn't ever want anything dirty
Criminal charges for being lewd
Didn't want to inspire you to say
Goodbye to you forever
Or even go get screwed
I wait for the end to arrive
The pain of life reminds me
That I'm alive
But you go on, just know I care
So take the way out, find the door
Never pay me attention
That's not my point
There are other dimensions
I need to fully explore
Maybe I'll find you there
If I'm able, if you'd ever dare
Every existence has a cost
My love nor life won't be lost
On a situation that isn't fair

The Road of Truth

Majestic, I remember the taste of your lips
So beautiful, you've been the reason I exist
My life is tragic, I should never be near you
My life comedic, a stupid joke, I am a fool
Why we have bonded, I really cannot say
Over time I've always been in your sway
Unique and alive, even if the world's a zoo
Never let me be free, you allow me to believe
If there's nothing more than to persist in living
Being with you I've been able find to the truth
And for your love, every reason to renew

No Contact

What if we are ancient in outlook
When the communities sent messages
With bonfires on the top of the mountains
Capturing content of our cultures in books
Perhaps aliens have a higher intelligence
Having sent contact in digital fountains
We humans only hear an endless drone
Of white sound, found in background noise
Never hearing the screaming voices
Only imperceptibly toneless radio static

All that needs to be seen

I watched as the building that I had alone built
With my flesh, my bone, my blood, and effort
Fell crashing to the ground, become dust
Being destroyed, completely
I had expected to be broken, unfulfilled
But it had brought me comfort
And I realized I had misplaced my trust
No more letting foolish things complete me
Finding inside a warm embrace from eternity
My flaws no longer analyzed and held in waiting
I was free from the wages of sin, with forgiveness
I was freed of the wages of perfection by the perfect
I was forgiven by one who forgives
By that hand was created everything
Only that hand creates whole and complete
Only that hand that creates sees all that needs to be seen

Weapon of Opportunity

In the swarm of incoming attackers
Some brave few chose to fight
With weapons of opportunity and courage
Now was the hour they'd be judged
By ramming planes, killing the enemy
They traded their lives, to stop the flood
The Motherland's defenders would endure
With their last effort, unto the final patriot
To the last drop of the invader's blood

Mysteries of Rage

Filled with life, organisms
The world is a living system
From the ocean's life, the sky clouds
It isn't tormented by dreams or doubts
Her oceans breathe out the oxygen
Plants taking in our carbon dioxins
Humans are different, we are animals
We're aware, dream, act, and we think
We feel, and, into our dark thoughts, sink
We need to understand our proclivities
For our actions are based in mysteries
As we linger in the dark, not the light
The world is distracted by trauma
Whether catastrophes or violence
Riots, crime, or permanent wars
All leave wounds, leave scars
Left to our dark thoughts
We become children of the night
We learn lessons, but not wisdom
However intelligent, we've no vision
The future is not within our sight
Even if we dream, study, or believe
Our minds cannot create prophecy
It has a source we cannot tap
Or data to retrieve

Ideological Duels, No Clear Victory

Former Allies chose to fight
Over the Korean Peninsula
Cold winters and burning summers
Ideological nations sent forth champions
And the two sides fought sky battles
With results uneven, ill defined
The Americans and Soviets fought
And former allies died there
Both tried to help finally decide
A contest between two sides
To force through a victory
The Korean war a war of brothers
Beneath a political reason
Burning with an ideological fire
The Bear and Eagle would collide
Two enemies trapped in stare
Each side supported their ally
In small but still worrisome numbers
If the world had known
The delicate peace would unravel
With a rush to nuclear war
That would surely end time
Both sides recklessly chose to dare
Not considering the final chimes
The clock would strike
5 minutes to midnight
5 minutes before we die
5 minutes to remain alive
The drums of battle resound
And they sound like thunder

Hero of the Soviet Union's Great Patriotic War

There comes a day when some are called to fight
And only some are given proper armor and training
Despite the cost there are those who hear the call
Even if they hadn't the proper equipment to win
And still they'd fight, still they'd give battle
Even in the calm, in the lull, they prepare, plan
Doing their best, they are determined
From the light of the sun in the mid day
They fall from the clouds
Determined to take down the foe
They have a servant's heart
Refusing to let go and down they fly
Ready to die now they know
They'll bear the burden and show
Love of the nation, kindred with the people
A notice to the others waiting to fight
Many fight due to love
A love of the motherland
This is a war to the end
Without a care for the darkness or the light

The Consequence of Human Hands

If corporations are allowed to decide the safety of the environment
If we encourage politicians to make rules and negotiate the terms
Our world shall be made toxic, polluted, wholly burnt unto ashes
The foxes in charge of the hen house, will never choose to relent
We'll be buried by their choices, the mistakes, in freshly turned dirt
And the world will be dead shortly thereafter, serving as a casket
For we were made stewards of the land, and chose instead to kill it

"Mankind has never experienced a misfortune of this magnitude, with consequences so grave and so hard to eliminate." Boris Yeltsin  Firm Hope Amid Chernobyl’s Gloom

Scream into being a new age

They tell us to be quiet when we haven't said a thing
They demand our worship with solemn songs to sing
They have a vision requiring a belief and obedience
But I refuse to conform and refuse any acquiescence
We are lost, what more can they possibly take away
Watching as our rights are lost, limited, diminished
This is not America, our ascendancy is finished
This is not a land of free speech and thought
This is not the land that we were promised
Not a land worthy of the sacrifice bought
We need a new way and we need it today
Before we fall victim to mindless rage
Anger has become the living wage

Left in the Cold

Long ago we read books
Attended worship services
Tried to do good
Our ancestors paid for a future
Much better than this one
By the time our children read this
They'll understand the message
Rather than slay the messenger
Or destroy the message sent
Modernity veers into the abyss
Battles by cross and crescent
Vile impulse disguised metaphors
All of our holy urges are bent
By the limits of our final goals
We've been lied to, fed hate
This world hungers for us
Eats souls as hope decays,
The ruling tyrannies dominate
Every high dream destroyed
And by the time finally
When the Holy one arrives
We won't be able to avoid
Anything but final sanction
So we pray and perhaps beg
To avoid our well earned fate
And hope
This character trait of mercy
Is one we might trust

Little Known Effects

The Japanese leaders had a choice of two directions
One to the West and North towards the Soviet Union
The other to the South, parts East towards a larger foe
With Dutch Colonies, UK holdings and US domains
One would gain land dominance, and a greater empire
The other would be wipe out enemy held possessions
Either choice might lead to defeat, resulting in ruin
Either way taken, the empire would be able to grow
The northern path chosen, tanks, troops and planes
It was a duel, the battle to be fought, each entered fire
Whether called Operation Nomonhan or Khalkin Gol
The slaughter was immense, a battle fought with guile
After the Japanese backed away, the Soviets stood tall
The only choice was taken, thereafter, to attack South
And the result led to a different world when finished
Few if any remember the battle, and that is a shame
For it was decisive as are any great destiny changes

Cost of Progress

An all consuming frontier
Of scientific knowledge
The stars offer seed
For our imagination
The cosmos is sought
A place for wonder
A time for thought
Is where humanity stands
Their dreams subdued
Confused and disturbed
With little that we can learn
Hopeless,  exploring
Slave to the ideas and plans
Hoping they'll explain the truth
We are not alive unable to know
Starving to take a free breath
Even if the point is moot
Each day exists already
Every life has worth
Must learn to create hope
To expand our search
Turn it inward
Make our efforts fruitful
Let them finally reveal
All that we need to know
We must do more
Than simply survive
Every living thing
Is born with limited time
Death comes to us all
It is times to invest in life
Or we will all take the fall

First Breath of Spring

The first breath of spring
Allows the world hope
For to escape winter
Is a great relief
A rope thrown to the drowning
An offer of warmth
A time to recover
And renew
From the time in the dead season
When all surrounds is gray
Sleep fights exhaustion
And we give up the idea
Of fleeing
Because there's no safety
Outside of home
And summer follows
When we can be festive
And love greatly

Wine and Truth

The wine of the Lord's vineyard
Is the most perfect fruit of the vine
Remember, In vino veritas is real
For wine turns one aiming inward
It shall open the heart, but reveals
A deep desire to share, to opine
Opens lips, makes words flow free
Removes the power to conceal
Wine is a medicine and a sacrament
As a fine elixir, let us not abuse it
Choose it with deepest gratitude
In that moment, escape the torment
Let it become a healing time
Sincerely allow it to work
Feel the fire, let it burn within you
Let it work all the way through
You will feel love, you will feel
And it leaves behind
A divine warmth and smile
