the Coming Storm

Humans have the disadvantage of being intelligent
Enough to reflect, more than enough to pretend
And be disturbed by the choices of their hand
Though they've risen from the primitive
The state of existence is modern
Modernity is crossing lines drawn in the sand
Asking questions, but wanting no answers
Are humans a cancer? Are they a curse?
We've made mistakes, yes we've stained the planet
Ruined it with violence and toxins
Not necessarily from malice nor greed
But that exists
We measure our place compared to other life forms
And we are the alpha, we are the lead
But we've no other earth
And we are turning this one into radioactive dust
We have nowhere to run
So with the virus that has been unleashed
Has Armageddon begun?
If so the coming storm will leave no life untouched

“Let me never fall into the vulgar mistake of dreaming that I am persecuted whenever I am contradicted.”   Ralph Waldo Emerson
