Modern Minds Can't Do It

How can we understand the past, if we refuse to see
The pathway of evidence is there, we can know more
Although we have data, the story truth we don't know
We ponder human origins without respect for the intellect
Humanity is both greater and less than our imaginings
Humans used technology beyond fire, sticks and stones
But a distance of time makes all considerations suspect
People of antiquity spread across the planet, gathering
Building pyramid structures, megaliths, perhaps flown
Nothing was done without a cause or specific reason
Perhaps the ancient world can't be understood
Despite our deepest longings and efforts to know
And yet, it existed, and that is proof enough
Pyramids across the globe are beacon
Telling us that we have a vast history
Anything we do to impose limits does too much
It threatens to stop forward movement
Of a species who is clever, and when young
Gathered and created, acted as if one
We long to finally become wise
However impossible that has become

THE HIDDEN HUMAN PAST
