Told Sweetly

Like a sweet melody it rings
Like the words when vocalists sing
Anthems to life's misery
Choirs reaching majesty
Of the words she wrote
When she said goodbye
Sad but pretty
Longing and yet
Distant
Offering no hope for more
Slamming the thick oaken door
And still I was happy
She had written in my diary
That I only ever had to ask
She'd bring herself to the task
To make me feel better
And when you've lost everything
Nothing feels like Heaven
Like lies told sweetly
With pity

“Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars.”
― Kahlil Gibran
