When the air raid sirens went off
We ran to take shelter in the bunker
Waited for those bombers to kill us
Or at least until they were finished
Wondered if our loved ones were lost
Every night came an artificial thunder
The children, not adults, seemed fearless
And fear unleashed demons within us
Children didn't know the dark truth
That every war is a kind of murder
We witnessed it, we'd experienced it
The adult citizens did know
It broke our spirits within
This vile war seemed endless
Few who'd survived had a way out
Left with no belief in any victory
We were trapped, filled with doubt
We knew the future was dim
We were the ones to lose our world
Our innocence had paid the cost
