The vehicle rumbles down the road
As rocks and gravels put up dust
This bus has no driver
Or anyone you trust
This society in which you exist
Is not a machine
You are flesh not made of steel
You are composed of spirit functions
A well oiled, functioning being
Still you listen
To the messages and obey
Finding a need to be noticed
In some way
Do you remember?
When you were young
When you had a perfect dream
There in dream you'd ascend
Rising so high
Above the ground below
When you discovered a need
To use alternate means
Needing pills to sleep
Forgetting the most basic things
What other pills you take
Only the gods know
We've entered the last portion of the trip
Driving into the final destination
Exchanged a day pass for something
Eternal
We've reached terminus
No clue which way to go
So go deep into the everlasting
And take a walk
Wondering how to endure
Nature watches you
As you flay about, foolishly
Swallows and larks watch
As you enter doubt
The terminal station's loudspeakers call
Last call, boarding, one way only
No round trip tickets
The engine starts but stalls
Even if the bus was empty
Without a map without a driver
It was destined to crash
With you in it
