A Water Spirit

Every day the girl walked to get water
She felt a presence standing with her
She didn't think much about the reason
Too much to do to help out her father
But every day she walked to the shore
The area warm, regardless of season
She went each day except in monsoon rain
Once when drawing close to the surface
She saw a reflection there, of a girl smiling
Though she was startled she never wondered
But her mother's spirit had remained
For a close and loving embrace
