A Garden of Dust

Maybe I think too much
I heard you talking to somebody
While in the deepest sort of dream
You seemed so happy, so joyful
I realize you weren't dreaming of me
There's a secret you barely keep
You would rather have coffee
And lay out upon the porch
With sushi for lunch
With someone else
Laughing at his humor
Giving his face a gentle touch
Smiling at his eyes
How they glisten
Oh how they shine
But he'd just be like everyone
With you for other reasons
Than his ability to listen
Or be patient
When you scream
When you punch
My life is devoted to you
But it hurts
To know what's true
My life is working in your garden
But all I eat is the dust
