Pharaoh's Broken Heart

Two people living as one
But one was powerful
The other served as slaves
Egypt refused to allow the Jews to leave
For as slaves they were assets to the state
Called by a messenger, named Moses
To go upon a journey,
They'd find their home land by G-d's hand
Demanding to be freed
If the Jews continued to exist in slavery
Would be countered by curses
The land, the animals, the health of the Egyptians
Would come to woe
The two people had a dynamic relationship
And the forces at work led to greatness
Each curse rained down
And after each the Egyptians expressed denial
But the refused to free their salves
When the worst curse of all was enacted
In each of the homes of Egypt
The first born was to die
This curse stole the life of Pharaoh's own
The Jews then fled
The angel of death was not vengeful
Rather, she acted according to her purpose
To be the divine hand's active agent
In the land of the Pharaoh and the Nile
