The Raft Still Sinks

Over time events have happened
Showing us how precarious life is
A French ship Méduse crashed
Off the shores of Africa
And the survivors built a raft
Only for most to be lost at sea
When other ships found out
And learned about the catastrophe
Their captains sent in boats
But it was not to help
They sought to salvage gold
Now thought to be lost
Stop and take a look at the Earth
See a single enormous lifeboat
And if you do, understand
How and why
Life has become so dangerous
We're able to know but somehow
We still haven't learned
No breath if the air pollution chokes
No food if chemicals can't restore the land
Killing bees is an act that is traitorous
And we've only just begun this
No sort of justice
For when the nuclear age started
A nuclear war still endangers us
Our planet is unique
Alone supporting life
In every human experience
And if we cannot find our way
It will burn, shake, die
Unable to start a new day
