Bloody Sunday had a memorable effect
Destabilizing all British efforts in Ireland
But the British reacted with equal violence
Hatred for the Black and Tans was well earned
No soft modern reading can possibly deflect
All of the consequences of being occupied
Or the effect upon the force occupying
Even if all memories of the past are haunted
While the situation still burns and torments
The memories reflect the tragedy
Of a time neither innocent nor quiet
A din of explosions and bullets firing
Stunted generations feel unwanted
By the people in power
By those who rule
