The warrior class of Japan was one that held prestige
A samurai had the right to bear swords and weapons
At the root of the samurai's life was the concept of duty
With obligations to those above him, to those beneath
To exist with the presence of death, whatever threatened
Learning court etiquette, artistic skills, poetry and beauty
That is, a samurai accepting death as a constant companion
Would learn that life is precious, to be lived without regret
To bear a sword in anger would lead to a singular moment
Now, both death is made real, and that life will be lost
Nothing is done without consequence, without awareness
The Samurai serves, and does so with his life as the cost
