The Point of it All

There is a perception of our being
One that hovers nearby
In the midst of our life
It seems that youth is fleeting
As seconds tick away
Without notice
While others pass by
With more awareness
Those joining us on the journey
See the time differently
Even when we share the same moment
Time passes in children so quickly
For the aged, elderly, glacially slow
In those about to die
Time passes without notice
For there is only one thing upon the mind
Where have I come in life, where will I go
Is there anything I missed
Did I again miss the point
Was there anyone I was meant to know
Or anyone I needed to meet
Is there anything that I wish now
That would have changed it all
Did I miss seeing
All that would let me grow
