The Last Stand

When both sides expend all of the missiles
Bombs and all kinds of explosive ordinance
They'll destroy everything
Countless cities, innocent people
After all is gone, no tears, no protestation
There will be no more nations
Only a killing zone
Where it becomes murder by any other name
Our civilization lost in utter shame
Killing, if in person or from a distance
The destruction will be immense
There will be nothing left
No hope for an armistice
The few left irradiated
As the fires lead to cremation
And still, some plot, others act
One single bomber takes to the sky
Alone, no escorts, no enemy planes
With a bomb bay full of death
Even more will die
Soon there will only be ruin
Burnt flesh, as a sort of offering
To the gods who no longer speak
For they've been destroyed as well
The earth will be dying
All we love lost, forever
As the world becomes Hell

NOTE: The bomb-load of the B-52: 70,000 lb
(31,500 kg) mixed ordnance; bombs, mines,
 missiles, in various configurations.
