The watchman is given a task of blood
To stand guard, watch and raise the alarm
His awareness would come into disregard
Should the enemy pour through in a flood
His life would be forfeit, his family harmed
For his role was simple, be ready to warn
Should he fall asleep, or be slow to act
Should his village be set afire in attack
His irresponsibility would be made to pay
By hanging by the neck or a spear to his back
He knew what he had to do
So he made certain of his duty
