To sleep in the sunlight
To be comforted in my rest
For a cat to begin to purr
Gives me hope in the fight
To maneuver with finesse
To be offered and demure
My flesh needs to dream
My soul so burns in pain
In the warm summer rain
I've waited for so long
To simply close my eyes
I can't explain being shy
Perhaps I've seen too much
And not had enough love
To allow me to survive
Before hope is gone, forever
The most steady watchmen
Begins to sorrow his vigilance
Even the most sound sleeper
Awakens and flees
