We live upon a majestic planet that has been generous
Despite the dangers and catastrophes it teems with life
Blue with rich oceans, green with verdant vegetation
The earth spins upon an axis, it is due our reverence
For without it, we'd never have evolved, nor thrived
We grow fat upon her offerings, yet there is starvation
Establish our species, by her riches allowed endurance
Trillions of life forms compete and struggle to survive
One day it will end, perhaps by disaster or human hands
We will should we engage in nuclear war's damnation
“In our new age of terrifying, lethal gadgets, which supplanted so swiftly the old one, the first great aggressive war, if it should come, will be launched by suicidal little madmen pressing an electronic button. Such a war will not last long and none will ever follow it. There will be no conquerors and no conquests, but only the charred bones of the dead on and uninhabited planet.” William L. Shirer
