In our explorations of space
We found them, by accident
It was a miracle, it seemed
As it answered the question
That continuing generations asked
Are we or are we not alone?
Aliens had sent drones to find us
Our planet would give them a home
 Earth's scientists studied the drones
And learned that they were a portent
A probe sent to discover new worlds
When digging further in, they learned
That earth was not just a destination
We'd been determined to be a target
For aliens to invade and conquer
We then set out our own markers
A modern trip wire to give us notice
That a vast fleet of space faring ships
Was on their way to invade earth
They came from across the galaxy
In the time waiting for them
Earth experienced the first unity
That had ever been possible
Futuristic technology was shared
All labored to prevent disaster
Invasion would be extinction
So we labored like worker ants
In an effort to fully prepare
Our goal was singular
Technology aimed well
So humanity could be spared
For our enemy was powerful
We'd no reason to be hopeful
Even less reason to expect mercy
Our space going craft developed
To fight at a distance our foe
And after our first encounter
We built human guided missiles
Learning an important points
In combat, about the foe
Their A.I. couldn't understand us
 So human minds were used
To guide and foil their A.I.
We called them Victory Bombs
Though humans had to die
They took a grievous toll
After their fleet was damaged
The invaders brought war to earth
We fought with tank, and mechs
Giant steel robots and craft
Armed with lasers, rockets
Along with human courage
Because if we fought well
The foe could not take control
We might even survive
But at the present
It is undecided
We can only fight
And either live or die
