While it is true that wars are usually fought without mercy
There is a distinction deserved in defining the Pacific War
Where violations of human dignity and hate ran rampant
These neighbors across an ocean had now become enemies
The memories of brutal treatment between them left scars
The trust they both had once had for the other now absent
Now prisoners were bayoneted, and buried alive
Surprise attacks violated the established rules of combat
Civilians were murdered and were abused
Annihilation was the solution, not any peace treaty
Whether through the Manhattan Projects or Unit 731
The goal of both countries was not just to simply win
It was to destroy, to remove, to win however one might
That the other race would be wiped clean of the entire species
