A trusted vessel, crossing the oceans
But here she found, wavering, floundering
Off charts, floating, without her crew

And going without a planned course
Boarded, without trouble
Inspected, offshore of the Azores
But there are no humans visible
Few signs of life, so strangely quiet
No reason for being this way
Cargo left behind, plans silent
What happened to the Mary Celeste
Was she now a ghost ship
Was it pirates, or catastrophe
Was it a plot to steal the cargo
Or an even stranger event
That caused abandonment?
