The Moment of Choosing

If for a single moment
You saw the world's pain
Looking out with the eyes
Of the orphans rejected
Cast out, left out in the rain
You'd be forced to action
Either close your eyes and walk
Or reach out your hand and talk
Engage or deny it is your choice
Will you help or will you betray?
This world has a way
To rise above the catastrophe
But apathy becomes entropy
And then all hope is lost
As we count the cost
Of everything we might pay
While they hunger for sustenance
To allow them to live another day
