Dead trees, and yet hope

Even deep into the worst fears
Followed by some bitter tears
There is an everlasting hope
Life on planet earth still offers
Home and habitat for the many
Even if we destroy all known
We humans are the moment
Life will survive our presence
Earth is billions of years old
And new dreams still grow
After humans have gone away
Unknown life forms will flourish
All filled with dreams to bestow
Of brand new great civilizations
With no human traits at all
