From deep space it comes

A singularity, aware, sentient
Sends from an enormous black hole
A signal reaches that earth, shockingly
Modern civilization now expects to die
For their outlook had been one of isolation
The world outside her own thought silent
The mute universe around it had not been
But through a plague of mental starvation
The idea that we might be unable to perceive
When an ultra advanced star gazing people
Send information through various means
We might be a fire atop the mountain
They might be a rapid solar burst
Communicating by means we can't receive
For it is that we are mute
Each send messages, calling for help,
Perhaps for contact, or seeking new worlds
There are facts available but
We might be the last to know
For who knows if someone has tried
Or will try ever again
We might be a speck of dust
In the eye of an aware universe
And to all corners and reaches of space
We've become an irritant, an ignorant people
Despite our efforts, a people unable to learn
Condemned to remain upon their planet
One so beautiful we call it Earth
