Laughter in class

Outside in the hallway I heard laughter in a class
A kid was there facing a cruel and brutal aftermath
Found when the herd demands conformity
Revealing a sort of false preference
When lies become the reality
Found not in the heart, only in beauty
Caught, made the mistake of asking
Why pick on some, not others?
Why all of this bashing?
His crime was honesty and a lack of perfection
He wasn't handsome, being awkward and thin
He was judged a fool despite his beauty within
He was correctly considered a misfit
But that is not a flaw
As laughter in class echoed, the teacher did nothing
The student turned red wishing he could do something
Not knowing a fact very important
That in the kingdom of heaven the order is shifted
Where the first shall come last
He wasn't cursed
For the last shall come first
He knew right from wrong, spoke truth and not opinion
Finally made the world know he was differently gifted
Not a beast of the herd, nor a follower or a leader
Being popular is worthless when the final vote is cast
