Rescued

Over the period of three days of a darkness, the devil reveled, and danced
The anointed messiah was broken, God's own chosen one, by the Empire
Raised upon log beams, crafted into a crude T shape, with human affixed
Kept in place by nails pounded through flesh, a fatal painful circumstance
A crowd surrounded the execution, staring at the spectacle, for it was dire
Some cried, others laughed, as the event proof we'd slipped into an Abyss
But even as the devil and his minions celebrated, Hell's door was opened
And all the prisoners were freed, the lost were found, life was given hope

“Ay," he said aloud. There is no translation for this word and perhaps it
is just a noise such as a man might make, involuntarily, feeling the nail
go through his hands and into the wood.”                 Ernest Hemingway
