Dante

His gifts of insight were taught by means unorthodox
Dante Alighieri had died on September 14, 1321 AD
In an age of great intellectual discovery and growth
Skilled in many forms of the writing discipline
Poet, philosopher, literary and cultural critic
He told popular tales, morality tales and paradox
Displaying the consequences of pride and shame
Human hubris deeply embedded in every approach
As we tend to make unsolved problems cryptic
Looking upon knowledge as if a box, locked
We give up before arriving upon the solution
Dante refused to surrender his truth, his voice
Because he was committed to resolution
Existence needed Dante's narrative opera
But his greatest gift to humanity was deep
He gave humans a view of a higher drama
With foresight of the Inferno and Heaven
Our eventual destinations await

“My course is set for an uncharted sea.” Dante Alighieri
