Warsaw 1943: Striking Back

After the defeat of Poland, September 1939, the Nazis created new borders
Areas were occupied by German forces,Warsaw had been sectioned
With the Jews confined to live in a ghetto, the other areas for Poles
But when the Nazis came to empty the ghetto, the Jews at last fought back
Resistance had cost the Nazis time, not enough for them to abandon plans
Using all means necessary, the Nazis tried to exterminate their opponents
Germans were impressed by the collected Jewish will to defend themselves
On this day, May 16, 1943, the Jews of the Warsaw Ghetto lost the fight
And the survivors were led to Treblinka, and other death camps
