Night Train

Riding on a train, going across country
The sleeper cars all full
Filled with dreamers and sleepers
Only the sleepless walked the halls at night
Some were drunk and sultry
Others mourning life unfulfilled
Some called for the reaper
Never in life having acquiesced
To the plain and bold facts
That life hasn't a promise
That the future makes no guarantees
Only journeys taken
Only vows breaking
The few who finish
Are neither sinners nor saints
They simply endured
Arriving at terminus
Where nothing remained
