Numb in Oblivion

I never loved like she loved
and couldn't understand her
But that isn't a complaint, no
It is a question, how and why
I spent my life waiting to die
She flew with no wings to guide
All I know is that I don't know
We all know memory plays tricks
On the fading minds left behind
She loved like it mattered, fire
I love like a child, showing ire
I miss her more than I can say
An enigma, a mystery, ballet
She was so much I can't explain
My life has gone on too long
As hers was to be far too short
Whatever flaws, my life's a stain
Her being, is the greatest import
I'm being honest, it is not vanity
No one remembers my name
Hers held aloft by many in fame
I'll walk alone into the setting sun
She disappeared in a moment spun
And I can never get back the lost
Prayer or thoughts, unknown costs
Can't bring her back, I'm overcome
Thought of loss, my heart is numb
I'll fight my way out of oblivion
And hope to see her waiting

“No matter how much time passes, no matter what takes
place in the interim, there are some things we can never
assign to oblivion, memories we can never rub away.”
