Aztlán's Children

They had created stories that narrated this legacy
The powerful central civilization and race of earth
Aztecs knew the destiny and bowed before creators
Tribes surrounding the Aztecs feared their power
No err to think them great, they knew their maker
Until they lost the way, Aztec lands were held firm
The nearby tribes obeyed, but plotted all the while
For a tyrant is different than a simple land lord
One villages crops aren't worth your entire life
So in anger, they looked off to distant lands
For inspiration, for hope, and for leadership
Slave's lives are worth less, endless labors
But many can often replace elite skills
And the many would someday reply
