Brothers and Mothers

My brothers fell on either side of the wall
Separating Union and Confederates at Cold Harbor
My cousins and family all paid, and died in valor
Fighting at Marathon beach, Athenians and Persians
We all died answering the nation's call
Call us home, call us home
We loved our country, and decided to fight with ardor
Dead from Pearl Harbor and Truk Lagoon colored pallor
The wealthy start wars, cry the mothers and orphans
Only the dead have seen the end of war
And they alone
