His corpse long rotted and perfumed
Many have over the years mocked Icarus
They do not understand that he was right
We should always try to fly
Or Earth's surface will be our tomb
We should always seek the light
Icarus was not wrong
His folly came only from his belief
Should he rise that he would fall
Should he rise that he would fall
In this belief was his portent of doom
And it was self fulfilling
“No destiny attacks us from outside. But, within him, man bears his
fate
and there comes a moment when he knows himself vulnerable;
and then, as
in a vertigo, blunder upon blunder lures him.”
