Howl to the Furthest Horizon

Howl into the winter wind
The sound carries
And the frozen world
Echoes the wail
Your pack is gone
Chased into the distance
To the furthest horizon
Where the winter sun
Doesn’t rise
And you long
For the others
In your tribe
But fates are not kind
And the path is
So very far to go
And the world
Around you
Swirls
With the wind
Your voice echoes
Bouncing upon the snow
Covered hills
Alone
For you are
Without your kind
Alone in winter
Where is your tribe
They cannot hear you
Their path blanketed
By the snow
Your howls
Are unheard
And the sorrow sounds
All your own

Winter castle with Ravens

In the coldest, driest winter
A castle stands so bleak
With blustery winds lifting
Plumes of snow and ice
And passing ravens
The people of the castle are huddled within
Sitting and warming before the fires
They wait for the enemy to invade
But who would leave a warm place
For this frozen outpost of a shire
But they fear the invaders coming again
So the sentries stare out from the towers
Hiding behind the battlements from the wind
Praying to their many Gods
To be delivered from this place
Before they begin to cower
The cold leads to despairing
The ice and snow bite the skin
And the waiting drives them mad
When march the vulgar clans
Their skin covered drums begin

Wolf Cub's First Winter

In the wood, the solemn place
Where the trees fallen don’t permit
Snowfall to get deep
The gentle moans of cub
Waking, from her sleep
Covered in a blanket
Of freshly fallen snow,
So cold, so pure,
Covers where she laid
She shakes her head
Sprays off the flakes
And hops across the floor
Of the forest white
And hunts for food
To celebrate the day.
